  • Visited Butterfly world today with my Partner and while we had a lovely time visiting the Butterfly's and animals our visit to the Butterfly cafe was very disappointing to say the least. The staff who appeared to have an average age of about 17 seemed half asleep and on another planet. No one really seemed to be in charge and despite it not being particularly busy when we arrived around 12 we had to wait 40 minutes for two baguettes to be brought out to us and that was only after we complained. We noticed everyone else seemed to be waiting ridiculously long periods for there food to be brought out and quite a few others had to complain too. When the food did finally arrive it was put on the table and the waitress did not even speak to us never mind apologize for our wait. The baguettes had no butter on them and only a few crumbs of chicken and a dribble of chilli sauce. I had to go back up and ask for a few sachets of butter. My request was met by a grunt from the girl serving followed by a dirty look. If it wasn't for the fact we were both now starving I would have sent it back. I didn't feel it was worth my while complaining to any of the cafe staff and no of them seemed to care less. Unacceptable service, food quantity and quality. There is a much nicer better run cafe in the garden centre next door though so I would recommend going there instead and the actual Butterfly's and animals are definately worth a visit.
  • This place is great for children and adults. It has two restaurants, a butterfly greenhouse and farm park. It also has a huge garden centre, a discount clothes shop, lots of small toy shops with a vast range. A soft play and many crafty activities that you can pay to do. My grandchildren liked it. Easy parking just off junction 16 on the M4.
  • A lovely way to spend an hour, an afternoon or even a whole day. Lots of different animals, birds, reptiles and butterflies bound to entertain any wildlife lover of any age.
  • It's kind of a strange combination really. It's Butterfly World, but the entrance is contained within a craft village, which has a number of little arty/crafty type shops. A couple of the units contain professional photographers' work and then there are some personalised gifty things which focus very heavily on baby keepsakes etc. There are also places where you can something your own something. For example, you can decorate your own cupcakes, make your own chocolate lollies or glaze your own pre-cast pottery. These are probably more interesting to the average family as they allow the kids to have a go at doing something crafty and potentially provide parents with a worthy keepsake without the heavy price tag attached to some of the other items available. There is also a Lego model exhibition, a cafe and a soft play area. Which, again, is reasonably priced. For about £2.50, my three had the half hour they needed to let their chocolates set. On a previous visit we went into Butterfly World itself, which has a number of impressive specimens and was pretty nice to walk around. There are also a few reptiles and other animals to see, which help to avoid the sight of another butterfly becoming a tad monotonous. All-in-all, the place offers plenty to do as long as you understand that you may well be required to pay for everything separately. The prices are reasonable enough though, that you won't end up spending an absolute fortune. Other than looking a bit tired (which, as of our visit just a few days ago in February '17, they appeared to be rectifying with a touch of renovation) Butterfly World, the craft village and the farm park can easily keep you and your family entertained for the better part of a day.
  • Great day out with kids. Really interesting range of butterflies and other wildlife and the staff give the impression of really caring about what they do.
