On a rainy day we stumbled across Studley Grange by following the brown signs off the motorway roundabout. We are glad we did and have been back many times. Its a bit on the 80's retro side and could do with a good DIY man on board the staff team. The car park is very good with a short walk to the entrance, the price was very good getting into the butterfly park. My son was amazed as soon as we entered the butterfly house by the giant blue beautiful butterfly's that where playfully zooming around by the entrance. We see something new every time we go. The outside farm yard and animal enclosures are very good, I personally love the otters and there very playful. Beware of the giant raccoon, its more like a bear!! Once inside again there is a very reasonably priced restaurant with a good menu selection and plenty of tables with good personal space for prams etc next to the table which is unusual these days but nice to have. The main internal section is taken up by a very good soft play split into good aged groups. There is an amazing air cannon section down the far end and my son cant get enough of it. Make sure you understand the costs before you go in. Around the outside are some some very interesting craft outlets covering almost every type of craft there is. Also there is also a little barbers who offer children's haircuts in a themed chair and hot towel shaves, something I have always been tempted by. Very worth a visit.
I would have gave more but I believe part of the day out includes the way staff are with you. Staff were not the best and spoke to us like muck. I have an autistic daughter and there was a quiet area to eat but the door was shut it took three members of staff to answer were we allowed to eat in there. To be told "he doesn't like people up" there but I guess you can but you can't take the buggy. The buggy contained a sleep baby. Staff in soft play very welcoming and friendly. Got told my children couldn't eat near animals but people dealing with animals were in and out the dining room and food serving areas in their outdoor clothes and wellies
Visited Butterfly world today with my Partner and while we had a lovely time visiting the Butterfly's and animals our visit to the Butterfly cafe was very disappointing to say the least. The staff who appeared to have an average age of about 17 seemed half asleep and on another planet. No one really seemed to be in charge and despite it not being particularly busy when we arrived around 12 we had to wait 40 minutes for two baguettes to be brought out to us and that was only after we complained. We noticed everyone else seemed to be waiting ridiculously long periods for there food to be brought out and quite a few others had to complain too. When the food did finally arrive it was put on the table and the waitress did not even speak to us never mind apologize for our wait. The baguettes had no butter on them and only a few crumbs of chicken and a dribble of chilli sauce. I had to go back up and ask for a few sachets of butter. My request was met by a grunt from the girl serving followed by a dirty look. If it wasn't for the fact we were both now starving I would have sent it back. I didn't feel it was worth my while complaining to any of the cafe staff and no of them seemed to care less. Unacceptable service, food quantity and quality. There is a much nicer better run cafe in the garden centre next door though so I would recommend going there instead and the actual Butterfly's and animals are definately worth a visit.
Kids really enjoyed it. Especially the butterfly garden. Nice collection of spiders and reptiles too. Customer service needs improving.
This place is great for children and adults. It has two restaurants, a butterfly greenhouse and farm park. It also has a huge garden centre, a discount clothes shop, lots of small toy shops with a vast range. A soft play and many crafty activities that you can pay to do. My grandchildren liked it. Easy parking just off junction 16 on the M4.
