Isle of Wight Steam Railway Reviews
We went to visit the railway whilst on holiday over Christmas. We were not allowed onto the platform unless we were going on the train for the Santa trip. Whilst we appreciate that we could not go on ... more »
We started our journey on time and it was a pleasant trip through the country side. We had the impression that the mince pie would be served on-route, but carriages did not have a corridor so we reali... more »
A great day out and excellent value. The ride on the steam train through unspoilt countryside is lovely and there's a lot to see at Havenstreet Station, (as long as you like trains;)) more »
Enjoyed the ride on the steam train and sitting in the old carriages passing through the green country side. Well worth the money and time spent. The staff were very co-operative and helpful. Small cafe next to the station platform and an ice-cream stall next to it for hot summer days. The weather was perfect when we went so it was quite an enjoyable experience. They had a Bird of Prey centre next to the station who put on quite a show. It was comical to see a rusty tube train running alongside.
I loved it here. Everyone working here is doing it voluntarily and you can tell they have a real passion for steam trains and love what they do. It was touching to see so many proud people. So much to do here at a leisurely pace. You can go on the trains all day long if you wish. I thoroughly enjoyed every part of my visit. This is my first visit to anywhere train related. If I lived on the island I would no doubt be a volunteer as being part of this team would be an honour.
A wonderful place for an authentic steam train ride. We enjoyed the journey up and down the line as well as the history, complete with ongoing restoration. The staff were all very helpful and the experience was accessible from my wheelchair. A ramp is available to access the specially outfitted passenger car, but not so specially outfitted that it differs from other cars. You get an authentic experience regardless of mobility challenges. A testament to the efforts of all involved, including the dedicated volunteers.
The staff were brilliant. We had a lady celebrating her 90th birthday. They made it so special. Train ride is gentle and most enjoyable. Excellent visit. Thank you
I am not a fan of trains but I went with three different generations and we all loved it... There is something for everyone whatever the weather. The trains were lovely and the scenery beautiful. There was a lovely woodland, an amazing falconry (with displays by excellent staff), reptile house, well-priced tea room and restaurant, interactive train simulation, model railway, lovely gardens, kids play area, shop and very authentic grounds. Staff were lovely. Top work! Such a great place.
