  • We're currently making the most of our National Trust Membership, and this has been on our list for some time. Car parking is a bit sparse, and there were few spaces left on the sunny Sunday when we arrived. It was more than worth it, as the grounds and house are simply magnificent. Despite being a Victorian building in its construction, the interior is an absolute delight. We both agreed that it's probably our favourite to date. Oh, and the tea room is well worth a visit. Home made cakes at a sensible price and an excellent flat white.
  • As we approached the property we were getting slightly worried about what we would find as it's setting is smack bang in the middle of houses. However we need not have worried as it feels just as remote and private as some of the Trust's large estates. We had a fantastic time exploring the gardens (we covered the orienteering course which ensures you get to see all 4 corners). The house was just as impressive and was enjoyed by all.
  • Enjoyed the guided tour of the exterior of the house. Beautiful textiles in several rooms in the house. The paintings in the art exhibition were surprisingly brightly coloured. We did enjoy them. Baby changing facilities in men's and women's toilets. Also additional children's toilet seat and step to stand on to wash hands. Children are even allowed to play with some of the toys in the nursery.
  • A Victorian family house stuffed with Fine examples of the work of William Morris, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and their successors, with original Morris wallpapers and fabrics and De Morgan ceramics. A real treat. Owned by the National Trust but feels like the family home it remains in part.
  • Very interesting place to go. Lovely coffee shop with inside and outside sitting area. Nice little gift shop along with plants for sale. Beautiful garden.Recommended day out.
