We turned up here expecting to keep our daughter busy for maybe an hour or two at best. In the end, we had to drag her away after several hours. I loved it too, but I think my partner had as much fun ...  more »

I have an annual membership here and do like it a lot. Soft play is fun for my toddler and the exhibits are interactive and enjoyable (not sure how interesting they are for teenagers or adults though!...  more »

  • Really good family day out! Lots of buttons to push & levers to pull, which meant my nearly 4yo and even my 14month old were entertained all day! Some of the experiments have seen better days, but most work well & the films in the planetarium are great. We all enjoyed the cardboard rocket film & the planet film (the guy talking us through the film was very humorous!) Free parking always appreciated. We will be back!
  • We had my sons birthday party today and I must say they loved it all! The best part of the day was the movie (the life of trees) in the dome and it was fantastic! How ever there was only one downfall after finding out the morning of the party that one of my sons friends wasn't allowed any Dairy I had called 2 hours before due to arriving to ask if they could make up a plain sandwich to be told "sorry there ordered in nothing we can do" then seeing on arrival at the coffee shop on site that it could of been made I must admit I was very disappointed! Other than that such a lovely day and will be going back!
  • I went to the science centre yesterday Thursday 27th with my grandsons 4 + 2. They thoroughly enjoyed it and spend over 4 hours there including a visit to the planetarium to see a film about trees. I was a little concerned about my youngest in the dark but he was fine and his only complaint all the way through was he wanted to see "more bees" but he was placated by seeing the moon. On a personal level I think it is brilliant and will certainly go again, my 4 year old has already asked to go back.
  • What a great day out!!! Considering an annual membership as the kids loved it so much. Wouldn't recommend the High Voltage show - we were lured in by promises of flashing lights and loud bangs... but it was just sad and boring. The movie in the planetarium was really good - the kids were fascinated by the fact the picture surrounded us!
  • Kids really enjoyed the hands-on interactive science experiments, all very interesting but as the day progressed it got so busy! For me, too busy to pay any attention to try and learn anything, but then it's bury for a reason I guess? Everyone was enjoy it, young and old. I was surprised at the size of the car park (arrived early thankfully!) considering the number of people there - there was a bus outside from town I guess? What was also nice and made a change was that the cafe and shop were not 'in your face' like they always are and picnicking was catered for inside and out. Well worth the trip!!

Where to stay in Winchester

Hotels, B&Bs, and inns offer rooms on the upper floors of the historical town center's Victorian, Georgian, and Tudor buildings. These look out over the pedestrian streets, markets, and shops, as well as provide a convenient location to the main attractions. Cottages for rent near the River Itchen are set among thick trees near the water, but are still within walking distance of many of the city attractions.
