  • Working mediaeval mill where you can see the mechanism in operation. There's a nice garden surrounded by river on both sides. It's possible to buy flour made in the mill, recipe cards are available for traditional breads and cakes.
  • A working water wheel mill although we didn't actually see the flour being ground. Fascinating to see the way all the cogs rotate in different directions to transfer the power from the wheel to the grinding stones. Bags of flour on sale in the shop. National Trust property and it is in the centre of Winchester.
  • Fascinating insight into the workings of a historical water mill. We visited on a day when the mill was in action, the flour was then being made into breads and cakes by a team of bakers (an abundance of free samples!). It is worth checking online to see if there are any events on when planning your trip.
  • Lots to do and a lovely gift shop with unusual items
  • Interesting working mill. Great to see the millers in action. When I visited they were also baking so able to taste some bread and scones. Flour is good for baking.
