Marwell Zoo offers you the opportunity to see wildlife up close and help save endangered species at the same time. In the 57 hectares (140 acres) of exhibits, view over 1,200 animals across 235 different species. Snow leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, gazelles, crocodiles, lemurs, and many more make their homes in enclosures that recreate their natural habitats. Follow one of the woodland trails to see small, local animals in the wild, and sit in on an expert talk about one of the zoo's species. • Along way to go from 'TORBAY', but worth it. The weather was lovely when I visited, the photographs were fantastic. Even got some great ones of the 'SNOW LEOPARDS'. Lots to see over a spacious wildlife park that gives you the opportunity to see many species of wild animals. Lovely place. ..........
  • Lots to see and do, plenty of playgrounds and you can spend a full day here easily. However, there was lots of construction on our last visit meaning plenty of moved/missing animals and empty enclosures. It's a shame this wasn't mentioned on the website to help set expectations. Food is very expensive, but annual membership is very reasonable and well worth it if you're local and have an interest or children. Overall it's a great place, it just feels like it could be so much better.
  • Very good place to spend time with the family. The Zoo is very well organized and maintained. The parking is big enough and there is no parking fee. You can have snack on the grass. The animals have plenty of space. Downside, the ticket cost is a bit high but worth it.
  • First impressions are that there is a very spacious car park, but make sure to get there early because it can fill up quite easily. The cost to get in is quite expensive, but it is well worth it for the amount of animals that you see. We were given an Easter Egg Trail, which you could get a chocolate reward for if you filled it all in. There are plenty of feeds and talks that happen at various times, from giraffes to feeding the penguins. The range of species you see is amazing, from lions to meerkats, all close up to take great photos. The centre is quite large, but there are lots of benches and quiet spots to relax. If you forgot packed lunches, there are three main cafes, including Cafe Graze which has a barbecue outside if you fancy burgers or hot dogs. However, on busy days you may struggle to find a seat and end up queuing for a while. The food is decently priced, and if you want to eat your own food inside, there is a clean indoor picnic area. There are also ice cream vendors dotted around the park, which is a great refreshment on a sunny day. If the kids need a run around I would suggest going to Marwell House, right in the middle of the grounds, where there is a spacious patch of grass. To sum it all up, Marwell is an excellent place to spend a day (or two, if you stay in Marwell Hotel) with the whole family, with things to occupy you for the whole day.
  • Very nice zoo, quite big with a variety of usual zoo animals. Food areas are good and clean. When it's warm they offer bbq food at the top of the park.
