  • The Wilton House is designed in a beautiful landscape garden with the "famous bridge in the Park" by William Kent (1736). In the garden there are beautiful very high trees, there is a rose garden, a water garden and wonderful views of the mansion. The House can be visited only with a guide. Taking pictures is prohibited. We participated in the leadership at 15:00. Since the founding of the Manor House, the family dynasty of the Herberts, Earls lives here of Pembroke. The mansion was a monastery, it was abandoned and King Heinrich VIII gave it to the Earl. the Turdorbereich was rebuilt after a fire in 1647 - everything is very well preserved. The Wilton House was a meeting place of the Court, the poet and artist from the beginning. The first complete edition of all pieces dedicated to the Earl of Pembroke and his brother 1623 Shakespeare. The piece "as you like it" was ordered on a huge stage in the garden of the mansion on Shakespeare. The Earls gathered sculptures, busts, painting (Rembrandt, Breughel, Titian, Tintoretto, van Dyck, Rubens) and could paint themselves "van Dyck". Here, paintings are invaluable - very worth seeing. The Rococo furniture were recently fitted with a red fabric and the rooms got new curtains (totaling an Aston Martin). Today, the 18th Earl of Pembroke (b. 1978) lives with his wife and two children at Wilton House. The guide was very interesting - recommendable! The Café is great as a canteen and very uncomfortable. • Stunning historic house with beautiful and extensive gardens. The gardens are in tip top condition and are well maintained. There are lots of mature trees, planted borders, Japanese style bridges and more to explore. For children there's an excellent adventure playground with a wide variety of activities to enjoy for all ages, including tunnel slides and a mini trampoline. Picnics are allowed in the grounds and children (and adults!) can paddle in the shallow water to cool down in the summer. A great place to visit for a day.
  • Loved taking the tour. The guide was knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions. Lovely place with many famous paintings going back to 1487 from many counties. Contained a trove of sculptures completed in the second century BC by both Greek and Roman. So much to see. The house also had a lovely gift shop with offerings for adults and children. I was delighted that the cost was reasonable as I had several gifts to get for family back home.
  • Visited for there 'Wake Up' events though out the year, great morning Car Shows. The Wilton Supercar events were fantastic ....
  • We had a family outing and picnic the grounds of Wilton House. It's a small, friendly place and very kid friendly. I can't understand why I've never been there before as it's only a short drive from where I live. We'll definitely be going again though.
  • Second time I have attended one of the Sunday car breakfast meets and I must say a great collection of cars assemble. The grounds are fantastic and there is lots to chat about. Now the bad bit. £21 for 2 small breakfasts and 2 paper cups of tea. A truly rubbish breakfast. With bean juice no beans. Left me feeling duped by its meager size and poor quality. McDonalds double sausage and a coffee for me next time. I won't be eating in that cafe again soon unless they seriously up thair game.
