  • Loved looking round the west wing . Lovely old building , grounds and gardens a bit sparse but hey it’s the time of the year, nice tea room.  more »
  • This was a great place to visit, I loved the history of the family, Delaval, Astley and Hastings, they sounded quirky. The hall is worth exploring, the main building, the stables and west wing are fas...  more »

  • This was the best experience of visiting a heritage site we have ever had. We were able to benefit from the volunteer's talk about the house and families who had lived there. The information we got really brought the characters who had lived there and the place to life. All the wonderful volunteer guides were proactive and encouraged us to really connect with the history of the place during all of our visit. Many thanks to the volunteer guides their enthusiasm, friendliness and humour, what a great team they are. We had a fantastic time!
  • Not quite as ruined as you may think. Plenty to see in the hall itself, with very knowledgeable staff on hand. It must have been wondrous in its heyday. Some very nice formal plantings and gardens, plus many open spaces to be enjoyed by youngsters. Terrific café, with possibly the best coffee in the National Trust. There's a delightful church to be viewed, and also Community gardens. The staff and volunteers are excellent. Only given 4 stars as most facilities are temporary, and you have to use your imagination to fully appreciate it's grandeur. Well worth a day out.
  • Nice old building and grounds, plenty space for kids to run about, however if you're not going on a special day when they have stuff going on it's pretty boring I'm sad to say. They could make more of the place but obviously they would need more funding. There are much better national trust places to visit. The majority of staff here are nice but the last time we went the lady on the counter at the entrance really couldn't be bothered and felt she was a bit snippy.
  • Seaton Delaval Hall has extensive grounds and offers a variety of activities both inside and outside which makes it a great place for families and individuals. There is a café and ice cream shop as well as toilet facilities. The building itself is very imposing and part of it was used as a German Prisoner of War Camp and evidence of their occupation is still there. The coast and beaches are close by and the surrounding countryside is spectacular.
  • Well worth a visit although still needs further restoration. West wing now completely restored but East wing has an interesting WW2 history as it was used as a POW camp. Unfortunately at present it is closed to the public. Also read about the Gay Delavels
