Brooklands Museum, Weybridge

4.7
#1 of 31 in Museums in Surrey
Brooklands Museum presents a slice of British motoring and aviation history on the site of an original 1907 motor-racing circuit. This historic site includes four heritage-listed buildings, large hangars, and preserved sections of the old racing circuit. Visit the site to see a wide range of exhibits, including race cars, motorcycles, and bicycles. Arguably the most impressive feature of the museum’s extensive collection is the Concorde G-BBDG, the first aircraft ever to carry 100 people at twice the speed of sound. The museum also owns a Vickers Vimy replica, built in America in 1994 to re-enact and commemorate the world’s first transatlantic flight. Check online for the Concorde tour times and other Concorde-related special events. • A beautiful location for event, in our case Minis. Nice museums attached. Oldie Cars or airplanes that you can visit. Recently, the history of London buses. Very well worth a visit if you are in the area as car/airplane enthusiast.

  • Lots to see and a really interesting day! Do make sure that you do the Concorde Experience! The range of exhibits is stunning, especially the Napier-Railton racing car.  more »
  • I've been to brooklands several times and I'm always impressed with how things are always improving (the new hangar is excellent). I've eaten there before and found the food to be good. Yesterday howe...  more »

  • Very interesting, and well laid out, and clearly staffed by volunteers who are hugely enthusiastic for aviation, motoring and engineering. Sadly, not everything was open on our visit, but that gives us an excuse to go back! The Concorde experience was brilliant and I would highly recommend you take the experience whilst you are there. One slight criticism, some parts looked quite run down, and whilst I understand that they are old planes, they would have benefited from a wash. This is only a minor point, and does not really detract from what is a great day out.
  • Appearances are deceptive... much of fun, interest and impressive sight, sound and even smell. 8yr old girls, Dad and Grandad all marvelled at planes, racing cars, buses and bikes that had charisma and style. Concorde tour and Red Arrows rides favorite extras, and F1 Brooklands simulation a fun option. All loved it!
  • Excellent museum site, cycles, motorbikes, racing cars, buses and aircraft. Lots to see plus a F1 simulation and a Concorde experience. Great for young and not so young. Very good cafe and easy access.
  • Fantastic family day out. Plenty of opportunities to get hands-on with the exhibits. Concorde experience was great- if a little rushed through the on-board exhibition space. Highly recommended.
  • A good collection of historic vehicles set in the original Grand Prix venue as well as an eclectic mix of aeroplanes and buses. Part of the original banked track can be seen, but is somewhat decayed, much like some of the exhibits. The buildings are much as they were back in the 1930s. Many events are held throughout the year. Even when there are no advertised events there are things happening. When I went there was a hill climb in progress. Worth a visit and combining it with Mercedes Benz World which is both free and within walking distance.
