Categories: Historic Sites, Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web
Located adjacent to the quaint village of Holkham, Holkham Hall remains as a fine example of an 18th-century, Palladian-styled country house. Each room contains a number of treasures to discover, in fact, the privately-owned collection of books, paintings, and furniture is still a source for academic research. Visit the Bygones museum to view an extensive collection of antique toys and agricultural memorabilia complementing the grandeur of the house, and learn about rural life in the past. Stroll the meticulously maintained walled-gardens and take a rest in the Stables Cafe. The house is still privately owned, so plan ahead for your visit as the museum closes over winter. • Love Holkham in its entirity..not just the Hall and wonderful grounds, but the beach and pine woods too. A little pricey in that you have to pay for everything separately rather than one inclusive ticket but so worth it for a lovely day out. Great cafe too at the Hall with fabulous goodies!!
  • Amazing place to spend a day or an afternoon. They have medium / small meals available if you need to lunch. You'll find deers, ducks, hedgehog and much more. The Park is enormous. When we went the Walled Garden didn't worth it (winter is not really good for gardens).
  • Had a great family time in this beautyful place... Plenty parking place, nice walking around in Deer park. The Lake amazing and cycle to hire even for small children. Wooden castle active playground for kids. Very nice food and gift shop. Holkham Hall area kept very well. Wonderful experience...Thank you.
  • Beautiful scenery and a nice place to go for a walk. Enjoy a cream tea in the cafe and sit back and watch cricket on the lawn.
  • One of the nicest days out we have had as a family for years. The house is stunning and has a very welcoming feel to it. It is evident that this family are working so hard to keep the estate as a sustainable business which is not easy these days. The staff were excellent , informative , gracious and friendly. The facilities were clean , tasteful and in keeping with the environment. The walled garden was absolutely outstanding as were the grounds surrounding the house. We wont mention the beach in case you have an influx of visitors !!! Such a good idea to have a bike rental available which is excellent fun . Thank you so much for sharing the beauty of Holkham Hall and we wish both the family and estate staff every success for the future. We shall be back , hopefully to stay in the Victoria !
