  • Cleese Abbey dates back to the 1100s so is full of history and is very interesting to learn how monks lived in centuries past. The church no longer exists, only foundation ruins, but there is lots to ...  more »

  • Unusual in that it is more than just the ruined remains of an abbey. Some buildings are quite complete and some sympathetically restored. Gives a good idea of how the monks lived and how the community changed over time.
  • Such a calming place.The abbey is eerily beautiful and it's incredible what has survived there! A really good morning spent here its a must see. :)
