Garden
For nearly 500 years, Pencarrow has been the much-loved home of the Molesworth-St Aubyns, ever since John Molesworth arrived from Northamptonshire to become the Auditor for the Duchy of Cornwall and Queen Elizabeth I.

Still owned by his descendants, Pencarrow is anything but a museum. Family photos, children’s toys, hats on classical busts and the pet dog Oscar bring this Cornish mansion alive and allow you a glimpse of what it’s like to live surrounded by so much history. And please don’t be too surprised at the odd cobweb here or there – after all, this really is a family home.

  • Pencarrow is a wonderful place to visit. Very peaceful and welcoming. The house is beautiful and the staff lovely. I take my dog to Pencarrow on a regular basis. Lots of beautiful walking areas for on and off leads...all clearly marked. Sitting in the garden having a coffee at the end of our walks is a must and the food on offer is delicious. Keep an eye open for the special events at Pencarrow....such a beautiful setting for an evening out. Pecarrow is definitely my favourite place to go x
  • A hidden gem to visit. We received a warm welcome at the shop and was provided with a dog friendly map. Basically dogs welcome on leads near the beautiful house but then they can stretch their legs in the beautiful grounds . We had a good walk round and spotted the peacocks. Also lots of things to look for on the walks - found a cute door on a tree. Great for the imagination. We stopped for lunch and it was scrumptious sat outside in the sun. Both dogs enjoyed a bit of scone too - well they are on their hols too! Excellent.
  • A fantastic opportunity to look into the past of Cornwall and it's aristocracy.
  • Private house, very welcoming, dog friendly. Small cafe serving a few tasty meals and cakes. Grounds mostly wooded park land.
  • Peaceful nice tea shop
