  • Although the castle is a bit in ruins it is visually stunning sitting on the hill above Warkworth - great to walk around - had the dog so could not walk inside the castle
  • You won't spend much more than an hour here inside the grounds but there's surprisingly lots to see. You can get an audio tour for free. Many nooks and crannies to investigate. Parking is £3.10 but re...  more »
  • Although not one of the most intact castles in this area we loved our visit to Warkworth. We'd recommend the walk around the river to the beach and also a trip into Amble. Make sure to visit the nearb...  more »
  • This castle was great, what a perfect detour off of the A1! It's largely outdoors, so that's important to consider depending on the weather. A bunch of cool details to be found about the remains of the castle, and some good information signs to help you imagine what was going on in the past and what things may have looked like. Worth noting that there is a Hermitage within a 15min walk and it was included with our admission (thanks to the English Heritage Pass), but we didn't have the time to take advantage of that. Parking should be paid for, but it's refunded at the ticket counter upon admission - just bring the receipt from the parking machine.
  • Great time if you enjoy castles. It's worn but beautiful with good views. Entrance price is fairly high considering the lack of facilities but the castle is worth a visit.
  • The British heritage is so pronounced with the castle and mixture of old buildings, history just pours out at you from all angles. Warkworth is a must to all visitors to Northumberland. Also a westerly walk along the river to the old Hermitage takes in some wonderful scenery. If your looking for somewhere to stay, try Morwick House b&b, you won't be disappointed.
  • I had a great few hours here. Thoroughly enjoyed myself and a bonus there was entertainment on the day I arrived.
  • Really interesting landmark with plenty to learn about. Well worth the fee. The surrounding village is full of charm with some great shops and places to eat.
