  • A village frozen in time. I've visited Tyneham Village many times over the years and in recent years have really enjoyed reading up on each individual property in this village. It's a beautiful and saddening story you must not miss the opportunity to visit such a quaint village, the school house is still beautifully well kept.
  • Went for a quick tour and ended up spending ages! The village is quaint with just the iconic telephone box, and school house still standing. The church is there but wasn't open when we went. The houses are all ruins, but the information boards provide good information as to each ones history. The village is small, but the walk around the edge and up to the cliff is breath taking! We took the easier option of the long walk through the village, up the hill and to the cliff top. Wow, what a view! Down the field hill was steep so wear sensible shoes, and going the other way be prepared for a climb! The beach is pretty and quite quiet, a total contrast to the fields and hill. Then a meander up the road back to the car park. A total walk was about 3 hours but if you pushed it you could probably do it in half the time.
  • Interesting piece if war time history and a fantastic opportunity to explore a unique part of British heritage. The village was commandeered by the military during the war to practice manoeuvres including beach landings and remains deserted. The only access is through a live firing range so check before you leave or the roads may be closed.
  • Even though I've always lived in Dorset I had never visited this place till recently. Its a strange place as you can get the feel that everyone in the village was made to up and leave suddenly. The church is the only building that remains in a decent working condition. A great piece of local history.
  • It's such a nice place to visit if you are into your history
