Dorset Heavy Horse Farm Park Reviews
I really enjoyed my visit to the Heavy Horse Farm Park. As a long time "horse nut" it was lovely to see so many heavy horse breeds, in particular the rarer ones. I particularly loved the Suffolk Punch... more »

Absolutely loved it. A selection of beautiful heavy horses Shetland ponies and some little pets too. Some beautifully decorated carriages and a cart ride too. The owners clearly have a passion for their work. Lots of interesting and educational facts about the horses, their personal history and how they were used historically. It was £10 entry but in my opinion was well worth it. We were there for five hours. Nice little cafe too.
We recently spent a week in Dorset and had a wonderful few hours at The Heavy Horse Farm Park. The owners should be applauded for their passion, commitment and sheer hard work, in building up this wonderful centre, celebrating the beauty of these majestic creatures. The heavy horses were a sheer delight, with the 11 week old rare Suffolk Punch filly foal, being the highlight of the day. The horses were certainly enormous but so sweet and gentle. However, I did come away with an equine related injury: a 35yr old Shetland pony, stuck his head through the fence and bit me on the knee! Haha...it's always the little ones you have to watch. Thoroughly recommend and will definitely return.
Second time visiting while down on holiday and as before doesn't disappoint and we were there from beginning to end as so much going on. Is great for children and adults with lots of knowledge. The staff are very friendly and encourage you to take part in different activities. Was saddened to hear if blossoms passing who pulled at my heart strings the first time we visited. A special mention to Ashley who got my daughter fully involved in the activities which she loved and can't wait to come back.
Went with my mum and dad, great for all ages, informative, educational and fun, there's something for everyone, cart rides, tractor driving, talks on gypsy caravans and culture, meet the heavy horses, meet the farm animal, rabbits and guinea pigs. Loved it. Great job, this is a treasure of a place.
A lovely way of spending a few hours. Horses are well cared for and petting them is great fun for horse lovers and kids. It's not the biggest place, nor the flashiest, but worth a visit.
