5/5 based on 20+ reviews on the web
Visit one of the smallest churches in Britain at St Lawrence Old Church. The humble rectangular exterior sits adjacent to a tranquil graveyard, with fir trees towering overhead. Built in the 12th century, the floorplan measured only 7.6 m (25 ft) by 3.4 m (11 ft) until a small chancel was added in the 19th century. Today it seats a maximum of 40 people. Step inside the cozy interior to admire the stoup and font, both of which are around 500 to 600 years old, inspect the 17th-century royal coat of arms (since repainted), and notice the Georgian hat pegs and old pews. Plan your visit to St Lawrence Old Church and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Ventnor itinerary planner.
