Warden's Way, Upper Slaughter

#27 of 60 in Outdoors in Cotswolds
Wend your way through quintessential English countryside along Warden's Way. The 22 km (14 mi) walking route runs between Bourton-on-the-water and Winchcombe. On your way, you'll go through a scenic section of woods, and pass a 15th-century castle with charming gardens, a small river, old mill, and stone church. The path is well marked and maintained on the whole. Stop in Lower Slaughter or Bourton for a cup of tea. What a nice short hike from lower to upper slaughter. There visit the beautiful village church, where you can buy even drinks for a small donation. Curious: Lack of a bridge, some homes in upper slaughter are by car only by means of flow passage to reach - just beautiful there!

A nice walk from upper to lower Slaughter. Get the weather right and it'll be lovely. You will see the lovely Mill at the end (or beginning) and put your tired feet into the stream.  more »
