  • Expensive at nearly ten pounds per adult. Not a lot to see for that money. Walked around in under 30 minutes.Seal feeding was OK. Shop and cafe are expensive. Will not be returning.

  • We visited Blue Reef Aquarium on the Saturday ahead of Great North Run. With our 15 year and 5 year old daughters. They both loved it; the seal show was fab and the staff really went out of their way ...  more »

  • I had an excellent afternoon out with my young family here. It's not just an aquarium, and has a variety of animals for you to check out, my 2 year old's favourite were the chickens that roam around outdoors... but there's something for everyone, including a couple of really cute otters. If you buy your tickets online then you get a discount, so it's not too expensive either.
  • Where do I start? How about the fact the place is hardly a "safari" - you could walk the place in less than 15 minutes. When me and my friends needed the toilet (which both male and female were out of order) the staff seemed frustrated and eager to leave suggesting we should go but the time was only 5:20 and we arrived there at 4:40 we paid £10.50 for less then a hour. Looking around i heard one member of staff saying "oh I can't wait until they go so I can leave" bad customer service if you ask me, considering we travelled 2 hours to get there. I also wanted to look around for longer considering I spent £10.50 but I felt physically uncomfortable like they didn't want me to stay. Why say you close at 6 if you make your customers feel like they need to go with 40 minutes extra to spend? I will never be going back again i paid to much money for a tiny aquarium and a nasty attitude from your staff! I will be telling all my friends and family as well that if they want to waste their money they should go there. If I had spent the last 40 minutes there I would have been happy and felt like it was worth it but do you really think it's okay to be standing behind me and my friends saying you want to leave? I was on a machine saying does anyone want a go and a member of staff said "I want to go" implying that she wants to leave. The only thing good about blue reef is the bouncy castle - which thankfully, was free of charge.
  • It's a small sea centre. But you can walk in and out of it throughout the day. There is parking right next to it. There are some events that happen throughout the day. Like feeding the seals, feeding the monkeys (Yes monkeys) and the beach is 5 mins walk away with a cafe on sight here (and toilets). It was a perfect place to start or day and we returned to get some snacks down us and then pack onto the ocean!
  • Great place to hide from the North Eastern weather with the kids. Year pass is fabulous value for money - pays for itself within a couple of visits. The food could be a little better than the standard greasy spoon fair, but the cheesy chips are lush!!
  • It's expensive to get in. There are a lot of fish and some turtles. The seal enclosure looks quite good, however, there was not enough room for everyone so I didn't get to see it. The window to the underwater section of the seals' tank is very nice.
