  • If you like wine and fresh food to accompany it this is the place for you. You can turn up for the tasting and lunch but when the weather's nice the food side can be busy so either arrive at midday or book. Note seating is outdoors though covered. The vineyard can also be accessed via a very pleasant 3 mile walk from Tones along the river Dart.
  • Beautiful location, the self-tour of the vineyards great, the wines OK, the cheeses fine, the tasting was a bit amateur and the portions of wine very meagre. Not great value for money compared to the opposition but worth a visit if you are in the vicinity. Oh and it did rain the day I was there but you can't blame them for the British weather!
  • Sharpham Wine & Cheese, Sharpham Estate, Ashprington, Totnes, Devon TQ9 7UT A marvellous dining spot in the summer. Book in advance. The walks around the vines are excellent, too. We went very early in the year with a small group of researchers on the Travel Writing Masters to learn about terroir. It was a very useful day. My favourite piece of tourism knowledge from the day is that the sun reflects up from the surface of the River Dart to speed the ripening of the grapes for harvest. Taste Sharpham's Sparkling Pink to re-capture some of that Devon sunshine.
