Babbacombe Model Village, Torquay

4.5
#1 of 14 in Theme Parks in Devon
Theme Park Water / Amusement Park
Babbacombe Model Village is England in miniature. Over 400 models make up the village on over 1.6 hectares (4 acres) of rolling English pastures; it is entirely fictional, but famous English landmarks, such as Stonehenge, inspire many of the sites there. Puns are the wit of choice here, and you'll see no shortage of them in the business names, such as Terry Bull Gardening Service. Tom Dobbins created this miniature marvel, which includes an iconic English castle, windmills, and people. • Love coming here! Always something new to see! Constant changes and upgrades being made! Friendly staff and nice shop and cafe! Well worth the entrance fee! They do fantastic events at Christmas and Halloween and the illuminations are brilliant!
  • Don't even think twice. You have to visit this place! I loved it as a kid and I adore it as an adult. It's utter genius. The design is stunning, from the way they use the natural landscape and planting (no astro turf or plastic hedges here), to the inventiveness and detail in every display, to the wit and humour at every turn. It's a great place to take kids, but adults will love it too. My two London teenagers (teenagers!) thought it was amazing and got their mobiles out only to take photos! Give yourself a good couple of hours to stroll around or you will miss the all-important detail. Add more time if you're thinking of stopping in the cafe. But do visit. It's brilliant.
  • Visited during May half term with our 8 year old son. Fond memories of visiting here as a child and it did not disappoint this time around. The detail and humour in the models is fabulous and my son enjoyed the additional hidden characters to find and the Where's Wally models to spot. Excellent family attraction and good value for money.
  • Absolutely amazing work of art. Must take a lot of hard work time and effort. Amazing place on a glorious sunny day.
  • It's a bit ciche but beautifully laid out and go with an open mind and enjoy it. Make sure you take advantage of the free return visit for the evening illuminations. Took me back to my child hood
