  • Very steep walk down to this cove, and a bit sad that the cafe and loos were closed even thought it was mid afternoon. Not sure if this is an out of season thing or not as no signs to say opening hour...  more »
  • I must start by saying, it's not for the disabled as it has a long steep path leading down to the cove. However when you get there, there is a lovely cafe which can serve you a lovely bacon bap. Well ...  more »

  • Beautiful location and reasonable food.
  • An area of "OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY"............." WALLS HILL" is close by and with careful supervision can be reached by wheel chair, (modern rugged design), just up the road from "THE PALACE HOTEL"........... This cove has an 'ICONIC' rock formation known as the 'HELTER SKELTER' or 'TWIZZLE ROCK', probably the only such rock formation in the United Kingdom, and the "COVE"is liked by day visitors and people who live in the area........................ A high and low path to the west, along and through the densely wooded hillside, to "HOPES NOSE", (from here to "THATCHERS ROCK", is a site of "SPECIAL SCIENTIFIC INTEREST")........... The path to the east, up high steps to "WALLS HILL", (another site of "SPECIAL SCIENTIFIC INTEREST"), with history that dates back to an "IRON AGE FORT", which was used as a refuge by the local inhabitants of that time, (you can see many species of wildlife here which are localized to the area), walk to BABBACOMBE" (which also has views from the high cliff tops, at 300ft), you can see along the coast to "DAWLISH," (on a clear night trains and signals can be seen). Watch the aircraft landing, taking off from "EXETER CITY AIRPORT" at night. "THE CARAVAN/CAMPING SITE", with white night lights, "SEATON" and the lighthouse at "PORTLAND BILL", can also be seen on certain nights. ................................................. A large 'LIMESTONE QUARRY' existed here, with the high grade rocks being transported to "TORBAY", to construct the many historic buildings which can be seen in the area, with, "QUALITY MARBLE", exported by sailing barge to be processed in another area. There are 'LIMESTONE KILNS and TIN KILNS' all over 'DEVON' and all over "DARTMOOR NATIONAL PARK".............................. You can sit at the 'COVE CAFE', (check their web site for summer opening times), for a beverage or hearty breakfast, whilst listening to the wild birds, rolling waves and enjoying the "NATURAL CLIFF ROCKS, THE LANDSCAPE SCENERY" .......... This review is 'dedicated' to 'DR ROSE POLGE' and 'EDYTA KONSINSKA', who will be sadly missed and sincerely remembered by many people...... "HERE ROLLS THE SEA AND EVEN HERE LIES THE OTHER SHORE WAITING TO BE REACHED. YES, HERE IS THE EVER LASTING PRESENT, NOT DISTANT, NOT ANY WHERE ELSE. THE PLACE OF THE WHITE ROCK ROSE"........................
  • Great Place for Scuba Diving! Cafe serves amazing food and staff is super friendly. There is a option of renting a kayak and lots of other stuff to do.
  • Really nice' fresh food and a view to kill
  • My grandson and I often walk down to the cafe and enjoy exploring the small rocky beach before settling down to enjoy either a bacon sandwich, cooked breakfast or simply have an ice cream each along with a coffee and a fruit juice. The cafe tables are on the small promenade right next to the sea and the service is very friendly. They also have toilet facilities as their location is quite secluded, a necessity when accompanied by little children.
