This is a hidden gem! We found the cove by missing a turning and pulling in at the first place to have a car park. A very steep hill takes you down to the small dog friendly cove that has stunning vie...  more »

Very steep walk down to this cove, and a bit sad that the cafe and loos were closed even thought it was mid afternoon. Not sure if this is an out of season thing or not as no signs to say opening hour...  more »

I must start by saying, it's not for the disabled as it has a long steep path leading down to the cove. However when you get there, there is a lovely cafe which can serve you a lovely bacon bap. Well ...  more »

  • Idyllic setting, great little cafe serving great food and drink. Kayaking also available. A true gem.
  • "ANSTYS COVE"......with its " OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY" attracts thousands of people from far and wide through out the year, from all over the world......A place admired by the 'barrel makers' of long ago. Do you know where this ancient civilisation came from and what was their purpose of settling at "ANSTYS COVE"..... Well, you can sit and ponder the making of history at " THE CAFE", which has extended opening times throughout the summer spring duration............"ANSTYS COVE" has an 'ICONIC' rock formation known as the 'HELTER SKELTER' or 'TWIZZLE ROCK', which offers the visitor photographic memories....High and low paths take you West, through the densely wooded, steep hillside..... Further on to "HOPES NOSE" and "THATCHERS ROCK" which are designated as a "SITE OF SPECIAL INTEREST"......... Paths to the East, take you up high steps to "WALLS HILL", again designated as a " SITE OF SPECIAL INTEREST"......If you are a keen wildlife observer then you might see many species of wildlife here.....You can walk to BABBACOMBE", once on the correct "WEST COAST PATH"........................................................ A large 'LIMESTONE QUARRY' existed here at " ANSTYS COVE". How many tons of Limestone do you think were excavated, with the high grade rocks being transported to "TORBAY", to construct the many historic buildings which can be seen in the area?........ "QUALITY MARBLE", was exported by sailing barges to be processed in other areas. A unique heritage of industrious, 'LIMESTONE, (TIN) QUARRIES', the remains of which can be found all over 'DEVON and DARTMOOR NATIONAL PARK'................................................... Sit at the 'COVE CAFE', after your walk whilst listening to the wild birds, rolling waves and enjoy the outstanding scenic location......Remember, it was easy walking 'down' that very steep road to " ANSTYS COVE", so you might want to relax and stay for a little longer............. A dedicated review to 'DR ROSE POLGE' and 'EDYTA KONSINSKA'...... "HERE ROLLS THE SEA AND EVEN HERE LIES THE OTHER SHORE WAITING TO BE REACHED. YES, HERE IS THE EVER LASTING PRESENT, NOT DISTANT, NOT ANY WHERE ELSE. THE PLACE OF THE "WHITE ROCK ROSE".................................................
  • Very friendly and helpful staff, a very relaxing stop on the costal path walk.
  • Enjoy a nice cold pint and panini, sat down beside the water, chilling out in the sun
  • Beautiful location and reasonable food.
