Mountain Nature / Park
Choose your adventure at Nevis Range Mountain Resort. Take the gondola to the top for skiing, snowboarding, or sledding in winter and mountain biking in summer. In warmer weather, you can also negotiate a high-wire obstacle course, ride a zipline, and take a guided fly from the paragliding center. At any time of the year, stop by the Snowgoose restaurant and bar for a meal and panoramic views of the region. If you prefer to experience the mountain without any boards or wings, take any of the 40 km (25 mi) woodland trails, which are ranked by difficulty. Stop by the Mountain Discovery Center to learn about the mountain habitat and wildlife. For locally crafted gifts, visit the onsite shop. Put Nevis Range Mountain Resort on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Fort William vacation planner.

  • Enjoyed summers here watching the UCI World Cup. Amazing place for DH mtb riders, and a chance to go and see your biking heroes! As a punter, it has grown very popular so gets very busy. A great event all round, great for the family (imagining small children wouldn't be able to walk to the track top, though), though feel could do with a little liven-up to make it feel new and interesting year on year (aside from the actual riding, of course).
  • We had a nice forest walk, the lady selling tickets was helpful. However they say on their website that they have disability access onto the gondola and at the top station. In reality you have to be using a Wheelchair less than 60cms to be able to stay seated in the gondola which is smaller than standard although they do have a wheelchair you can borrow as long as nobody else is using it. There is a short steep slope from the car park to the area outside the ticket office. Disability access at the top station is not good at all. Uneven ground which you would expect but the ramp into the restaurant is dreadful, really steep and made of metal mesh which the front wheels of the wheelchair got stuck in, also the door opens outwards and the level part of the ramp is only long enough for the wheelchair so you have to balance on the steep ramp while trying to open the heavy door. The gentleman at the top of the gondola was really helpful. The leaflet of the walks we were given at the ticket office states parking is free for car and coaches but in reality there is a £3 all day parking charge for cars. They're do say this money is spent on improving facilities. We are happy to pay £3 but the leaflet needs changing.
  • Lovely location. Fantastic views. You could spend hours gazing at nature. Food options are limited. Bikers paradise. Even kids could walk the small trail at the top. Cable car is good.
  • Excellent value for money and brilliant customer service all round. Restaurant good honest food at reasonable prices. Lovley meal with amazing views of the scenery 😊
  • We bought the ticket from High street, £13 for two single-trip. It was very nice with friends in the cable car climbing to the mountain- at its 600 metres. You can see the landscape and the mountain slopes sitting in the same place. Day before we had a failed-climbing to the Ben Nevis. They have a nice restaurants service hot food. When we went there it was snow storm- enjoyed it- visibility was quite low. But ten minutes later it was all good sunshine.

Where to stay in Fort William

A B&B along the high street provides access to pubs and cultural life. However, luxury hotels set among idyllic countryside are outside the city center. Consider a stay inside a refurbished historical building at one of the handful of guesthouses. less expensive lodging is also available in scenic areas within walking distance of the high street, or main street.
