  • Let's take the children to Old Ward our Castle said our daughter. We agreed, despite holding secret reservations that they may not be keen on seeing an old ruin. How wrong I was. Like others that day,...  more »
  • This place is excellent for a family day out. It's a bit of a trek if by foot or very narrow English country lanes if by car, but once one arrives on site it's all worth it. We were not expecting to s...  more »
  • This is an excellent castle to visit as although it has a large part knocked down, there is still a lot to see. I would recommend going with food as the shop only sells basic drinks and a few sweets. ...  more »

  • This is simply a magical castle. Our little family could have spent an entire day here running & climbing through the maze of stairs & rooms, but sadly we got there just a couple hours before closing time. Parking was easy, there are only about a dozen allocated parking spots, but plenty of grass to park on as well. It was about £5 per person to get in & the staff was exceptional & so kind. Stonehenge has always been my most favourite English ruin destination, however, Wardour has now eclipsed it... even though it is by far less prestigious stop & an out of the way destination. This is a place where your imagination can run wild, it's both exciting and serene. I simply cannot wait to go back.
  • A wonderful old castle nestled away in a beautiful valley overlooking a fishing pond backed by coniferous tree line. On site is the wood clad ticket office and the annex at the bottom as well as the castle. The space is quite small so don't expect to spend more than an hour before seeing the whole ground, though the castle offers more than an hour of exploration on all floors. Great place to bring a picnic and sun yourself, but look everywhere around the area not inside the grounds to see wonderful wooded scenery with horse, bike, and foot tracks.
  • Fantastic place to visit! Beautiful area and the recorded guide was interesting and fun to use. We enjoyed the visit to the castle tremendously. The only problem is the roads to get to the castle are very narrow and the visibility is poor. Otherwise, wonderful.
  • This castle has an interesting history that is entertainingly presented in the audio guide, and stands in a beautiful location with great views from the upper floors. We spent around 3 hours here going at a leisurely pace.
  • A brilliant English heritage site. Activities in the summer and a fantastic ruin, very interesting. The shop has ice creams and instant coffee but would love a cafe and info on local walks easily available.
