Staff/volunteers here have been great - friendly and informative. Recommended visiting
Not a lot here but there is lots of space and some big guns for kids to run around and play with ... there is a small museum which is very informative and a little chapel ... the shop has little to offer and the choice of drinks is appalling but the staff are pleasant and helpful ... a good day out with some exploring thrown in plus local pub is friendly and family orientated
Came all the way from London to find the fort closed despite informations on website.
From the Website Text " Henry VIII built the first fort here, and Queen Elizabeth I famously rallied her army nearby to face the threat of the Armada. The present fort is much the best example of its type in England, with its circuit of moats and bastioned outworks." - i want to visit this place, big with fate!
Nice old fort steeped in history a little hidden gem
