  • The world ends (the name of the pub before the Fort)-so the inscription greets us on the way to the only Fort type of bastion (Dutch) in England. The Fort at this time of the year, is closed to the public (I don't know), but i was lucky and the gate was open. Thanks, so I could walk through the Crown of the bastion where artillery batteries were located. Of the Fort there is a wonderful panorama. Assuming I had the opportunity to chat with the Guide on the history of the Fort. Great place, well worth a visit. Sometimes the best things we are located away from the main routes.

  • Great English Heritage site. There aren't a lot of signs and exhibits, but the guided tour does a decent job of explaining your surroundings.
  • Great example of a fort that was built to be a formidable defense and then never used for anything else. The waste water plant behind the fort can make nice photographs a problem.
  • Very interesting place with lots of history and nice exhibitions. Very much worth visiting.
  • Lovely afternoon out, the walking audio tour is really good and means you don't miss anything. You can sit and have a picnic anywhere, there's tables and lots of open space.
  • Great day out. Especially if you get the ferry from Gravesend
