Wyre Estuary Country Park, Thornton Cleveleys

#2 of 11 in Things to do in Thornton Cleveleys
The award winning Wyre Estuary Country Park (WECP) offers year-round activities and events for all the family including ranger-led walks, environmentally themed activities and annual events like the Family Sculpture Day. An innovative children’s play area was unveiled in spring 2011 providing children with a great opportunity to enjoy natural play and have fun in the park. Visitors to the park can also enjoy lunch or afternoon tea in the café before enjoying a walk along the network of accessible paths by the breathtaking Wyre Estuary. With an exciting woodland explorers trail there’s an opportunity to discover the wildlife and learn about the native trees in the park’s woodland setting. The WECP also offers room facilities and a unique outdoor performance area for hire, at competitive rates.

Good for a little walk on a Sunday. Cafe on site if you get peckish. Good for kids as there's a park and good for dog walkers.  more »
  • So peaceful, beautiful and calming. Lots to explore, plenty of good play equipment and a lovely cafe onsite too.
  • Estuary walks along the river Wyre where it meets Morecambe bay. You can walk towards Fleetwood or Poulton taking in beautiful scenery and industrial heritage. Tea room by the main car park and guided tours available for school parties. I believe the park rangers can arrange specialist rugged electric wheelchairs to access the paths. The path towards Fleetwood is great in bad weather as it is well made. The area is also popular with twitchers.
  • Beautiful place especially when the sun is out.. u always get friendly fellow dog walkers too
  • Best reserve in the area alongside the river Wyre. Great views and first class family Park and picnic facilities. Popular with families and dog owners. Bring money for toilets!
  • Excellent walks however a dog is mandatory. We were reproached for being dogless.
