When you visit, you will explore the 1940s period house with numerous veterinary science exhibits, a beautiful garden, informative films, and a 4,000-piece collection of veterinary instruments. View the restoration of the house’s original living quarters, as well as sets from the All Creatures Great and Small television series based on the books. You can even see the Austin 7 car used in the TV series in the garden. Put The World Of James Herriot at the forefront of your travel plans using our Thirsk family vacation planner.

Read the books as a child and always meant to visit here and never did. With the new TV series made the effort and glad I did. Transports you back to a different Thirsk and a different time. Really in... read more »
I would necessarily review a visitor attraction, however felt I should . In summary, far bigger and better than we anticipated. Well laid out and very informative. Well worth a visit.
This again is one of those reviews where i am loath to say too much, in that it could spoil it for future visitors. Suffice to say that it contains an enormous amount of information, indeed, far more ... read more »
Never been who is he. I only looked on here because I just past a sign on the way to Middlesbrough say James herriot country..........still none the wiser especially after only 5 reviews........6 including mine. Well mines not really a review but if 5 people have said he is good who am I to argue
Very good, lots to see, well worth the money, best part you could actually walk into the rooms, have a close up look at everything, many places cordon off the rooms. Film at the end was very interesting. Would highly recommend.
As a fan of the show it was only a matter of time before a visit to the museum was planned , I'm glad we went , it was a great experience , fun and informative at the same time . It was money well spent . When you get to the tv studio mock up , if the telephone rings , answer it .
Great place to visit. Really interesting and informative. So well laid out.
What a brilliant place to visit! From the moment I stepped inside I was transported back to the 1940's, I could almost hear James Herriot running down the stairs to answer the telephone, look into the living room and there's the pint pot that doubled as Siegfried's cash container, the period kitchen, the surgery where James worked - it's all here. A wonderful tour, and there's something for everyone. The new James Herriot train, the brand new memorabilia room, and don't forget the newly restored car that was used in the TV series. Altogether a truly wonderful day out, a day I will always treasure until I get the chance to come back.
