  • I’ve been a volunteer here as I like visiting frequently. The gardens are always interesting, especially in spring when the daffodils are out, but my favourite place is the Herb garden, which has...  more »

  • Excellent. Our guide was brilliant. Gave a detailed history of the house from earliest times to the most recent. Was able to answer questions as we went round the property without losing his flow. Will be returning to the house as we were told further restoration is ongoing and there will be more to see as time unfolds. House has a great history.
  • Lovely woodland walk, beautiful garden especially the herb garden. Enjoyed the pot of tea and extra hot water with a tasty piece of Victoria sponge. On that occasion I didn't visit the house.
  • We always visit Acorn Bank when in the area, one of our favourites. They almost always set up trails for the young ones to follow and discover things. There’s a restored water mill, endless beautiful well-kept gardens, woods to walk through, and a nice cafeteria (indoor plus outdoor) at the end. Plenty of parking.
  • This place has a great diversity of activities. The main building has a lovely courtyard cafe and a classic national trust shop. To the rear of the house is a small but intimate garden. The wider grounds contain many lovely woodland walks. There is also a working watermill (sometimes only runs until 3pm) which is good entertainment for young and old.
  • Beautiful place, when you arrive you get given a map showing the various walking routes which also clearly show how steep or difficult certain sections of the routes/paths are, you could come on multiple occasions and navigate the area as you wish. There is an absolute abundance of nature/wildlife to observe at the hide where binoculars are provided, there are not the best so if you have your own it's probably best to bring them, still it's fantastic they are there. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on leads and there is a lovely little cafe which closes at 16:30. Highly recommend especially if you are National Trust members
