Telford Town Park is a park and Local Nature Reserve in Telford in Shropshire.Parks for PeopleThe Parks for People funding programme is a joint initiative between the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund, offering grants for projects that regenerate public parks of national, regional or local heritage value. Telford and Wrekin Council were recently advised of their Stage 2 approval and now move into the first year of the projects five-year delivery programme. This 5-year Project kicked off in 2011 with the first contract to deliver the Park's Master Plan starting on site Summer/Autumn. Plans include a new Teenage Activity Area, new learning zones and picnic areas throughout the wider Park, and the restoration of key historic features. Work is due for completion Summer 2012. The majority of works are taking place in the central and southern area of the park therefore disruption is deemed minimal to the majority of Park visitors. The remaining Master Plan work will follow and includes improved pathways, the creation of a Nature and Heritage Trail, new gateways, signage and interpretation of the Parks history and wildlife. Additional benefits delivered by the Project including an enhanced events and activities programme, and additional maintenance and management activities, will become prominent from 2012.The Park is located off Junction 5 of the M54, is within 10 minutes walk of Telford's main bus station, 5 minutes drive time from Telford Central railway station.MemorialsIn the park is a memorial, unveiled in May 2010, to residents of the Telford and Wrekin borough area who died serving in war since World War I. Sculpted by Malcolm Sear, whose workshops were at Jackfield, it incorporates a central ironwork poppy. The inscription, "Honouring those of this borough who served and sacrificed for us all", is shared between two pieces of Kilkenny stone.

  • This park is great for a day in summer for the kids. The park is very big and take a picnic. Well worth a visit.
  • Telford folk probably don't know how lucky they are having a facility as good as this. Huge well maintained park with all the facilities you could wish for. Not the safest after dark (hence not full m...  more »

  • Best, free, and biggest park ever only problem you will have is getting the kids out if it!!! Great for all ages, has a water play area, sand/digger area, assort course, plus 2 more areas for younger kids and one for older, pretty gardens, loads of places to sit, grassed area and picnic benches and seats. Clean loos, pretty ponds with ducks, tonnes of restaurants right next to it and cheap crazy golf.
  • Fantastic park for all ages first aid staff on tap regular police patrols and loads to do plus shopping and eaterys easy to reach by train we travel regularly from Birmingham first class park best I've ever been too Telford park is a model to many others
  • Good selection of play areas for all age groups. Several nice gardens and lakes to walk around. When the weather is nice the water play area is open allowing children to have a good splash around. We have never tried the crazy golf but there is an a crazy golf area.
  • A truly excellent facility, so good you can barely believe it is free of charge. The close by food courts make it an excellent, child friendly fun and inexpensive day out. Highly recommend.
  • Love this place. Parkrun on Saturday mornings are great. Always something to do. Could do with nicer weather sometimes and maybe free beer
