Telford Town Park is a park and Local Nature Reserve in Telford in Shropshire.Parks for PeopleThe Parks for People funding programme is a joint initiative between the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund, offering grants for projects that regenerate public parks of national, regional or local heritage value. Telford and Wrekin Council were recently advised of their Stage 2 approval and now move into the first year of the projects five-year delivery programme. This 5-year Project kicked off in 2011 with the first contract to deliver the Park's Master Plan starting on site Summer/Autumn. Plans include a new Teenage Activity Area, new learning zones and picnic areas throughout the wider Park, and the restoration of key historic features. Work is due for completion Summer 2012. The majority of works are taking place in the central and southern area of the park therefore disruption is deemed minimal to the majority of Park visitors. The remaining Master Plan work will follow and includes improved pathways, the creation of a Nature and Heritage Trail, new gateways, signage and interpretation of the Parks history and wildlife. Additional benefits delivered by the Project including an enhanced events and activities programme, and additional maintenance and management activities, will become prominent from 2012.The Park is located off Junction 5 of the M54, is within 10 minutes walk of Telford's main bus station, 5 minutes drive time from Telford Central railway station.MemorialsIn the park is a memorial, unveiled in May 2010, to residents of the Telford and Wrekin borough area who died serving in war since World War I. Sculpted by Malcolm Sear, whose workshops were at Jackfield, it incorporates a central ironwork poppy. The inscription, "Honouring those of this borough who served and sacrificed for us all", is shared between two pieces of Kilkenny stone.

  • A real treasure of a find. Brilliant open air spaces + play areas to die for. Superb slides, giant spider web climbing frame, balance + trim trail. Lots to do with all the family. Visitor centre + great toilet facilities-all set in amongst acres + acres of green space. If u fancy a view, there's a go ape type of affair next to the play areas. If u want indoors, there's ten pin bowling or ice skating within earshot of foodie places. Walking distance of the town centre.
  • This is a wonderful park - so much to do for all ages. As well as loads of playground equipment from toddler to teen, there's a sand pit, water fountain play area, bike hire and many different gardens. The visitors centre is very close to the younger children's playground, which is very handy for the toilets. The centre also sells snacks and hot and cold drinks as well as the usual bits and bobs that you'd expect. Be aware that there is a large duck lake which is only partially fenced and this is hard by the younger children's playground and visitor centre.
  • Free fun for kids.....keeps them occupied and healthy at the same time. Free water play area so bring cosy and towels when the sun's shining. Lots of climbing and swinging frames etc. Large grassed areas, plus loads more. Fantastic place for everyone.
  • Great park loads of play areas spotless. Certainly the best park for children I've been to. Enough seating a really good variety of climbing stuff slides etc and it's free.
  • Fantastic park with lots to do for the kids. Good water park and play equipment. Great facilities nearby for food.
