  • Hi folks. I'm afraid you've got the Iron Furnace at the wrong location! It is at the other side of Loch Etive at the village of Taynuilt on the A85. The postcode is: PA35 IJQ. Most sat nav systems seem to direct people to the top entrance of the Iron Furnace and not the main entrance at the bottom of the road but you can enter from the top and walk down through the furnace. This is quite a common mistake leading from the confusion between the two 'Bonawe's'. Bonawe village is down past the Black Crofts on a single track road signposted from the A828. The Iron Furnace is at the village of Taynuilt, the whole area used to be referred to as 'Bonawe' because there was a passenger ferry linking the two between the Bonawe Quarry and Taynuilt. Cheers Fiona
