  • This is a review purely from my own and like minded peoples point of view. Last year five stars would have been awarded, sadly this year......... For the previous 3 years I have visited the woods on an almost daily basis during the spring and summer months, to walk my dog and enjoy the surroundings. It has been both interesting and rewarding over this time to observe the work that has been carried out towards restoring the area and the many enjoyable chats that have been had with the volunteers working there and the numerous fellow dog owners that I have met and struck up casual friendships with. I was somewhat disappointed today on my first visit of 2016 to find a notice stating that dogs must now be kept on a lead, are not to go in the water anywhere on the site and that one must now stick to the surfaced paths. I can understand owners being asked to keep their dogs under control but a responsible owner can do this without having to keep the dog on a lead. I can understand that dogs should maybe not go into sensitive areas of the waters but surely there could be some designated areas where a dog could cool off. I note that there is no restriction mentioned about the large numbers of children who have fun in the water, often in the dangerous areas around the waterfall. And we can no longer enjoy a walk over the top from the cafe to Cadle and back along the river. If these new restrictions are to be enforced there's not really much point in myself and the numerous other regular dog walkers who have used the area, and must have made up a good percentage of the regular visitors, in coming back. Thankfully there are other more dog friendly places to walk in the surrounding areas and a little further afield which also have the advantage of cheaper if not free parking.
  • Great for a walk with the family. You can spend just 30mins or 2 hours here walking and there is great lite coffee shop with plenty of out door seating and a little pavilion if it is wet.
  • Nice circular walk through Pentllegere Woods. Took the kids when we went and they had lots of fun, and had no problem with the terrain
