  • I took my 3 girls bowling today and booked online as they have an offer for bowling and lunch for £6.89 which is a great price. We turned up early but they had a lane free so we started straight away ...  read more »
  • We visited as a family group on a Sunday afternoon and were really pleased. Two games of bowling for 6 adults cost about £70. Plenty of balls available, the machinery all worked well, no breakdowns or...  read more »
  • Well, I read other peoples reviews. Some of them concentrated about food, so I decided to concentrate about staff and place itself :P It's not a restaurant so I didn't try their food :P Staff: nice an...  read more »
  • Never again! Horrible and incompetent service! We organised a party for 30kids (5y olds). The whole experience was horrid. 1. When we booked they did not say that the maximum limit for kids were 30. 2. The Call Center through which you have to the do the booking couldn't care less about what we wanted. The chap named Charlie seem completely uninterested in giving us solutions and gave incorrect information to us. For instance we had booked 4 lanes for kids and 2 lanes for adults. he categorically told us that the kids lane and the adult lanes would not be together. I didn't understand why this should be the case and as it so happened on the day they did give us the lanes together.he also insisted that we preorder the meals, which we did but on the day the Center wanted to know our order again! 3. Talking to Charlie I thought the experience will be a disaster so I went the previous evening at the Finchley bowl to speak to the duty manager. The lady at the reception (Emma) couldn't be bothered to answer our questions. Neither was the duty manager that evening interested in helping us. We got told that our party host will help us out on the day. 4. On the day of the party we arrived early (10.15 for 11am party). We got given a party host (Lee) who was completely out of his depths to handle a party for 30kids. He seemed like a kid out of school given a grown ups job. Half the time he had no clue about what we should be doing. How do they expect 1 inexperienced host to handle 30kids plus 30adults! For 6 lanes they should have at least 2/3 staff to help us out. 5. I had preordered some meals for the adults which arrived 20mins too late and they dumped the food in one pair of lane rather than spreading it across the six lanes. I did this personally! They also took 15mins to start the game. So had to handle kids while they sorted the lanes out. 6. I had no clue where the party host was half the times. Many of the other staff also couldn't be bothered to help us. 7. For the post bowling meals they squeezed 30 kids in a table for 15-20. I had asked them for a larger area the previous evening as I knew this would be a problem. But they couldn't be bothered! 8. For the kids meal I had asked them to spread the pizzas and macroni evenly across the table. Firstly the food came late and then he put the pizzas on one side and Mac on the other! Are 5y olds supposed to pass food and share! The table should have been set in advance as discussed. 9. Seeing the disaster at the table we ordered more pizzas which came as everyone was starting to leave. Half the food eventually got wasted. 10. They took forever to cut the cake and serve it to the kids. Quite a few of my guests didn't even get the cake. This whole experience stinks of incompetence and mismanagement. They make sure you pay for everything in advance as they very well know no one will pay for this kind of service afterwards. If I had the time i should sue them. Luckily 5y olds know have to have fun anywhere so despite Hollywood bowls best attempts they managed to have fun.
  • I like it when it's quieter during the week. Popular with younger crows and families on the weekends. Great for parties
  • I had a terrible experience here. We enter at 6pm. Having queued up a member of staff tells us that there is no availability until 11:20pm. We think this can't be right but obviously can't call her a liar. So we go online (whilst still inside hollywood bowl) and book a game for 21:50. I didn't know it was part of hollywood bowl’s training to lie to customers, but apparently so. Secondly, the people before us didn't finish until 22:10 (fair enough, they can't control for this). But then there was some weird technical fault without our screen (clearly have invested in cheap, easily faulty technology). This required us to go back and forth to the reception 3-4 times to remind them that this was not working as they didn't seem to be doing anything and kept telling us the same thing. The worst thing on their part was as we were waiting so long for the machine to be fixed a couple came to our lane and told us that this was their lane. It had obviously gone into their bowling time. We told them that we hadn't even started yet. So what do hollywood bowl do? They give this couple ANOTHER LANE, which was working. A couple who had booked AFTER us had started BEFORE us. How is this fair or good practice? Surely we should have gotten this lane and the couple be assigned our lane. It must be part of Hollywood bowl’s policy to pick your favourite customers and decide which ones you want to help. It wasn't all fixed until 22:50, by which time we were exhausted, some people had no chance of getting their last bus and hollywood bowl didn't offer us any recompense or seem to even care or value us as paying customers.
