  • Thought the full museum was very detailed and visually pleasing, especially the gardens, well worth visiting especially for free!
  • Lots of local history items including local industry and ancient artefacts. As well as a cafe and toilets the winter gardens are a tranquil area with stairs or lift to top of glass dome to look down o...  more »
  • It was a very grey day in sunderland when we visited. The exibits were very well laid out and the whole place was light and airy. Withvery helpful staff.

  • Lovely place packed with interesting artifacts. Cant complain when the museum is FREE and it does keep the children entertained. I have children aged 2 4 6 and 8 who were all kept busy. Do venture into the tropical gardens and have a stroll in the canopy area. The grounds are beautiful and ponds well kept. There is a playpark for children too.
  • Decent Museum. The art gallery is normally pretty good for people who enjoy that kind of thing.
  • Kids love the museum and the winter gardens. It's free too! They have the snakes exhibition and a show which is chargeable and is a bit overpriced if you have a big family to take to both. I only opted to do the show as it would have costed a small fortune...maybe a family deal would be a good idea for both!!!
  • Lovely little place the kids love it! They have a big garden with a pond out the back and the inside of the winter gardens is lovely too.
  • It's an odd feeling to admit to my great nephew and niece that some of the things they were looking at, I actually played with in my grandparents house! However, we enjoyed our visit. Good museum.
