  • From the kit inside it looks as if Trinity House never threw anything way. From incandescent oil lamps and Victorian era arc lights to mangles and wash tubs via telephones and mid twentieth century electric switch gear and telephones they have a lot of interesting things to look at. And when you're done the outside area has a good play area for young children and a picnic area. There is a lot to enjoy. The site is partially accessible but there are a number of steps and stairs and those going up to the light house top are rather steep, with the last run being almost ladder like, but on a curve, so anyone in problems may not be able to access the entire site.
  • Fabulous place, lots to learn, children looked well entertained too (went with husband and no children). Guide up the lighthouse was very knowledgeable and approachable. Long climb to top not suitable for those with walking difficulties but plenty to see in rest of building.
  • If it is a nice day I'd recommend not using the main car park and use the other car park. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from there to the lighthouse itself but the view from the cliffside path is worth it.
  • Another great national trust property. The lighthouse is nice, and the view is amazing. Be warned, though, the climb is quite vertical.
  • Excellent coastal walk from South Shields to Seaburn passing Souter Point and the Souter Lighthouse.
