  • Great for both young and old. Fun and interactive, we had great time building marble runs. Very friendly staff too.  more »

  • Took my 6 year old grandson. We both had a fantastic visit. Lots of hands on fun and plenty of things to get us thinking about how the machines are made. Plan to return soon.  more »

  • We love the Mad museum and with it being open until half 5 in the holidays it's always a good trip. £22 for a family of 4 and there is a children's section where they can make their own marble run with magnets on a wall. One of the nicer things is that you can leave and come back later on in the day as well if you want to go out for lunch. Doesn't look that big but loads to do and would recommend if you are in the town centre for the day.
  • A fantastic, inspirational place for kids and adults to while away a couple of hours. Kids will be entertained by all the buttons that can be pushed, the marble run wall, and watching the exhibits. Adults will be entertained, by exactly the same. Although small, there's a lot to look at. I have been going for a couple of years now and its great how the museum has expanded with its reputation. There's always been something new to see or do on every visit. Kids can be let loose in the marble run wall whereby they can learn about science and physics through play. If you are lucky and it's not busy staff will quite happily talk through exhibits. I fantastic place for fun and education.
  • Situated above the shops on the same street as Shakespeare museum you can miss it if you blink. MAD stands for Mechanical Art & Design one of the displays is woven into the stairwell leading to the main floor (lift is available). Pictures and videos do not really do it justice. This place kept my 7-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter entertained and intrigued by design. It is a little small and will realistically keep little ones entertained for around an hour and a half. It is full of interactive displays for buttons to push, motion sensors and peddles to work with. The large marble table is especially fun. I don't think you have to be particularly mechanically minded, but an appreciation of how things work and the detail of each bespoke display is rewarding in itself.
  • Very ingenious idea for a museum, fantastic for kids and interesting enough to keep adults amused. Easily keeps you busy for a couple of hours and the exhibits change regularly. Gift shop and entrance fee was pricey for what was on offer but still definitely worth a see.
  • Great way to spend almost two hours without realising it. We went round twice and saw all the bits we missed the first time. My son loved the giant marble run wall where he could build his own run. The displays are Amazing and my son loved pushing the buttons to start them off. Some really interesting items and some great sets in the small gift shop.
