  • The museum and archive have just recently reopened in their new location at the Castle. They provide an excellent insight into the history of Island life with a mix of traditional exhibits and multimedia. The museum includes a lot of personal stories which help bring the history to life. As with most Scottish museums entry is free (though you can make a donation). Would be good if it was a bit larger, one room wasnt yet in use when we visited but it was only the second day of opening. The attached cafe and gift shop are a bit expensive, but isn't that always the case these days.
