  • Be aware that the abbey ruins are only open over the summer. Entry is free, I didn't even see a box for donations. The location is 20-30 minutes' walk from Stirling Old Town (depending on how fast you...  more »

  • Free to enter. If you head across the river through a neighborhood plan a 20 minute walk from stirling city center. We walked around the place, took photos, and then walked along a trail along the riv...  more »

  • Beautiful quiet place with some ruins... beautiful nature and cows are around... kids had fun... it was tricky to park the car... but finlly we parked on the grass near the door after we entered the open gate... nice small town around too... if you are around nice to see it for 15 minutes... it's open for public.
  • Interesting piece of hidden history. Given it 4* rating because of location, it's free, and they have gone to the effort of having handy information boards in a variety of places. Worth a 20 minute visit.
  • Hidden gem in Stirling. Full of history in a beautiful setting at the river forth. Castle is in sight in one direction and the Wallace monument in another. Shame the bell tower hasn't being restored, I understand you've not been able to climb the steps for over 60 years or thereabouts, the views over the surrounding areas must be fantastic. Definitely worth a visit especially as it is free! I went down after closing time and the gate was unlocked, not sure if this is normal but there were other visitors in the graveyard area so worth a try.
  • Great place to explore. Plenty of history to soak up. Legend has it that part of William Wallace is buried here... true or not; It's a nice tale to think about as you wander round.
  • An interesting little place with a royal burial site. It is one of the smaller Historic Scotland site with a tower, which has only the ground level open and the stone foundations of further structures.
