Victoria Park, Stafford

4.7
Victoria Park is a Green Flag award winning park located on the banks of the River Sow in the heart of Stafford Town Centre.

Originally named the Victoria Park Pleasure Grounds the site opened in 1908 and is the Boroughs principal destination park. The park now covers an area of 4.95 acres. The park is the largest formal park in the Borough.

The site contains the listed structures of the Alderman Mottram shelter and the County War Memorial. The structure of the park has changed very little since the park was opened and as a result the original park layout is still in existence today.

The original park was extended twice, firstly in 1911 and secondly in 1930 when the play facilities were added to the North Western corner.

The park has an active friends of group who are an independent voluntary group who are active in increasing the community use and ownership of the site.

  • One of the most beautiful parks, the kids area is fantastic in the summer with the splash zone, sand pit and the generic swings and slides. There is a scate bowl at the back too for the older kids. My daughter loves the Avery. It's well worth a visit.
  • Brilliant , pack a picnic and you can easily spend a the whole afternoon at this park. Lots For children to do play areas (swings/sand/water features/skatebumps/ canal and bridges walk under the bridge and you can find an extra bit of park - bowling green etc and an Avery with different birds. Although the parrot did tell my 3 year old son to "xxxx off" when he said hello luckily my son does not understand swear words but it was hilarious to the adults with us visiting 👍 cheeky bird
  • Nice little town park for walking the dog around, bowling green, kids play area and a skate bowl. Just outside the train station and only a few minutes walk from the town centre.
  • Beautiful little park with a delightful outdoor cafe. Plants and flowers are always well kept too and a large children's play area too.
  • Extremely well kept Park, with river Sow flowing through. Beautiful flower beds. Aviary with various species of birds. Very peaceful, with cafeteria facilities and ample seating throughout the park
