  • Victor Hugo's house in exile is a fascinating look into the mind of a complex man. It is very popular and access is somewhat limited, guided groups being limited in number, so it might be worth enquir...  more »
  • Worth spending time to hear about this amazing man and his house. Unusual designs like film sets and chaotic use of antiques.  more »
  • From the outside, one has no idea of just how amazing this house is. It was where Victor Hugo lived and worked for the majority of his time on Guernsey. We are not going to say anymore as it will spoi...  more »

  • Absolutely great experience, probably one of the must sees in Guernsey, if you don't mind a bit of a culture. The house is a piece of art itself. Great, well worth the £8.50 entrance fee.
  • Hauteville House is a must see for anyone visiting Guernsey. The house is just as Hugo lived in it in the 1870's when he was exiled in Guernsey. The decor is an eclectic blend of unusual furnishings and decor. Guided tours only so booking is essential. Open April to September. Do not miss this gem of a home.
  • The people were very kind and it's a very unique and special place, nothing quite like it.
  • On a cruise call in St Peter Port, and decided to visit. So glad I did: the interior is quite wonderful, not at all as you might expect from the outside - like stepping into another world. Lovely knowledgeable French guide with a real commitment to the house which she wanted to share with us. Highly recommended - whether you know Victor Hugo's work or not.
  • Great look into the world of Victor Hugo. Very knowledgeable guide. Worth the £8.. Gardens are free 😎
