Perched high above the River Tamar, Cotehele stands as one of the best-preserved Tudor houses in the UK. Inside the fortified manor house, discover a rich collection of tapestries, arms and armor, pewter, brass, and old oak furniture. Outside, wander the formally planted terraces, explore the Valley Garden (including a medieval stewpond and dovecote), and visit the orchards. Walk down to the quay and hop aboard the restored sailing barge "Shamrock." To learn more about the history of Cotehele’s once bustling quay, visit the Discovery Centre. For an authentic Cornish experience, pop into the Edgcumbe tearoom for a Cornish cream tea. The car park is open and there is plenty of space. A scattering of visitors many with dogs. No sign of breaches of Covid guidelines. At high tide, mirror reflection on near still water, crunchy frost.... more »

Nice place. Because of Covid-19 we couldn't see the house. However, we had a nice walk around the grounds and the quay area.

Beautiful house and garden in stunning scenery.

A beautiful estate tucked away in the Tamar valley. Really good for anyone really as the grounds are big and easily accessible. The gardens are really well attended and there are a few Sculptures hidden which are really nice. There is also a walk to the river where the estate has a few more buildings and you can also walk to Calstock which is lovely as well. Have dropped one star as there was no info provided on the estate however it is well worth a visit. Plenty of parking as well

Absolutely beautiful. We visited 3 times last week for walks in the woodland and quay side as a family with our dog while visiting in the area. If going with a dog don't both paying beforehand as you can't even go into the formal gardens. Just pay in the small car park at the quay side and walk from there. We highly recommend the cream tea at the kiosk and if he is open visit the potter at the mill center.
