  • Visited today as heard the Aquarium had be done up. However it hadn't been since our visit last year. When we arrived there was a terrible smell, which did not go. It was so strong we couldn't stay in...  more »
  • Went there as a family as my sister wanted to go! 3 adults and 4 children ranging from age 5-13. It was alright but not overly big and I didn't personally find it great value for money. When we went i...  more »

  • Slightly pricey but good to see. Pleasant staff. Cafe on premesis. Great way of spending a wet St Andrews afternoon with children! Rather an odd combination of fish, seals, ants and meerkats but worth a visit.
  • Really good, nice cafe and lots of exhibits too see. Fair few stairs (went with buggy) but staff really helpful
  • Well set out to walk around different levels. We visited with our 2.5 year old, who didn't want to take time! There were several steps, so you have to keep an eye on the kids.
  • The aquarium is located on the edge of the scenic North Sea and has and has a charming little cafe where you can watch the waves crash on the rugged coast. It's a smaller aquarium and pricey for it's size, but the penguins and seals are fun for kids as well as a bubble of sorts which kids can stand in and look up as if standing in the sea. It's a nice spot in St Andrews especially on a sunny day followed by coffee and an afternoon coastal walk.
  • A nice place to visit for an hour or so, which I was doing quite regularly for work. Carers no longer go free however, so that is disappointing and now too expensive to visit for the short period of time I am able to. Tickets are valid all day, but this is of no benefit to me.

Where to stay in St. Andrews

less expensive lodging and luxury rental apartments are located around the town center and the university buildings. Be sure to book accommodations overlooking the sea and St. Andrew Cathedral ruins early, because they fill up fast during the good weather months. Rental properties in the town center on narrow streets, such as Market Street, are within walking distance of the main architectural and cultural attractions. Save money by renting a room farther west of the town center. These are residential neighborhoods that are well-connected to the town center but offer quiet nights and inexpensive nightly rates.
