#2 of 234 in Golf in Scotland
Ranked in the top 60 courses in the world and top 20 in Europe, Kingsbarns Golf Links sports 18 well-maintained holes, all with views of the North Sea. The course was built in the early 2000s and reflects a more American golf style rather than traditional Scottish links. Caddies offer information about each hole and advice about each shot. • I last played Kingsbarns about 7 years ago and the experience was amazing. I was in a group of 16 golfers and we played 36 holes of golf and had lunch and dinner there. I believe the bar tab is still ...  more »

  • I did not play it well, but I did not care. Every hole was challenging, but when a shot went askew you looked around at the beauty of the setting and did not care. We played about 7 courses in Scotlan...  more »

  • I did like the caddy program and the caddy services. Clubhouse and service is really good. Followed by a very playable and really enjoyable golf course to play. The condition of the course was in top shape and depending on how good you are at golf, you can make the course as challenging as you like! Awesome course and yes another must play when you hit Scotland on a golf tour.
  • Great place to watch the golf, we watched the Dunhill links here and the views of the course were stunning, and you can get close to the pro golfers to see how they play. Great day out.
  • This may be overlooked by golfers visiting St. Andrews. That would be a mistake. This is probably one of the best courses that I've ever played. You get a taste of everything. Seaside fairways, par 3s over rocks, one of the best par 5s in Europe. I would come back to St. Andrews just to play this again.
  • A jewel of a golf course on the east coast of Scotland. Rated as one of the best in the world.
  • One of the best courses in Scotland and thats saying a lot. New course with ocean vistas and some width so you can enjoy the strategy of the design.

Where to stay in St. Andrews

less expensive lodging and luxury rental apartments are located around the town center and the university buildings. Be sure to book accommodations overlooking the sea and St. Andrew Cathedral ruins early, because they fill up fast during the good weather months. Rental properties in the town center on narrow streets, such as Market Street, are within walking distance of the main architectural and cultural attractions. Save money by renting a room farther west of the town center. These are residential neighborhoods that are well-connected to the town center but offer quiet nights and inexpensive nightly rates.
