  • You really don't need to be a golfer or a great fan of the sport to enjoy this Museum. There are lots of interesting facts and displays and it's very good value for money. There is also a super cafe u...  more »
  • We were amazed at the information available. It filled some gaps in my knowledge of the ancient history of golf. We expect a 'brief' visit but were there for more than an hour an a half. The only down...  more »

  • We just stopped in for a quick coffee here and the experience was really good actually. Nice staff, lovely outside seating area and great views - definitely a nice spot from which to view the miniature Kelpies too.
  • The British Golf Museum has been rebuilt since my last visit. Cafe on the upper floor has a good view of the Old Course, Links and the West Sands. Good for coffee and cake. Staff were polite, though it was a little understaffed for the numbers.
  • This place is an absolute must for visitors who make the journey. Plenty to see, lots to learn and remember. We spent two hours in it before going onto the course itself for an hour long walk. Friendly and helpful staff. Finally got documentary evidence for those recurring "second oldest in the world" discussions on the 19th hole at the Bangalore Golf Club.
  • Didn't visit the museum itself, but rather the cafe, which is in a brilliant location in the first floor - looks out over the West Sands and the Old Course and has stunning views! Tea, coffee, cake and other food all good. Prices fine; service good but can be slow if busy.
  • Good. Dide'nt give myself enough time to see everything . But excellent history of what influenced its origins and many interesting items on display.

Where to stay in St. Andrews

less expensive lodging and luxury rental apartments are located around the town center and the university buildings. Be sure to book accommodations overlooking the sea and St. Andrew Cathedral ruins early, because they fill up fast during the good weather months. Rental properties in the town center on narrow streets, such as Market Street, are within walking distance of the main architectural and cultural attractions. Save money by renting a room farther west of the town center. These are residential neighborhoods that are well-connected to the town center but offer quiet nights and inexpensive nightly rates.
