  • A good place for little ones to explore. Pleasant to walk around the ruins on a dry day. Not much shelter if it is raining. Parking is on the streets nearby. Parking was difficult on the day we visite...  more »
  • it was a great little adventure to the castle . Interesting ruins and great for kids to run about in and free of charge but they need more boards about what the castle was like .
  • If you are in the area this is castle/manor is worth a visit. It is well maintained and there is no charge to get in. Young children would enjoy it as a place to explore and run around.

  • Lovely little Castle which took about an hour to stroll around and read the boards and take pics. Shame that it isn't manned and that no toilet nearby, nearest about 1/2 a mile down road at a local pub called the Railway, although it does state that one board. No good when you have driven a couple of hours and need to spend a penny. Otherwise nice grounds, only one or two picnic benches and even though signs said dogs not allowed, there were dogs in the grounds, but not surprising as English Heritage book says dogs allowed, so the rules contradict each other. So wouldn't advise to have a picnic on the grass. Would have got 4* but for loo issue, dog rules and lack of picnic tables.
  • Really impressive ruins, cut out of the rock. The children really enjoyed them.
  • Nice little ruin, big grass area leading up to the castle, notice many houses opposite are built with the stone from the ruin. Well worth a visit. Behind is the old disused Wetherby rail track.
  • Ruins of a small mediaeval house.
  • Spectacular
