Trip Planner: Europe / UK / England / Shropshire / Shifnal / Museums / Royal Air Force Museum Cosford
Over 70 iconic aircraft are displayed at Royal Air Force Museum Cosford, dedicated to the history of aviation and the Royal Air Force. The museum uses two sites (the other one is in London) to introduce visitors of all ages to internationally important aircraft, housed at this location inside three large hangars. Don’t miss a rare chance to see the world’s oldest Spitfire, part of an extensive Warplanes Collection. The museum also includes the National Cold War Exhibition, opened in 2007 to showcase V bombers and other aircraft used during the Cold War era. The exhibition uses "silo theaters" and a variety of media to depict the key events of those years. The museum also offers special birthday party packages, with private rooms available for rent. Add Royal Air Force Museum Cosford and other attractions to your Shifnal trip itinerary using our Shifnal family vacation planner.

A great way to spend 3 hours or more. Mostly in the hangers, so good if it's a rainy day. Our boys enjoyed it. The 4d experience was entertaining, and not too pricey, considering it's free to enter we didn't mind paying for the extra treat. Staff friendly and helpful too. Worth a visit if you're in the area. Airshow coming up in June '17.
Great day out. Staff were very nice and helpful (and knowledgeable). Good selection of aircraft to look at plus there are activities for children. Entrance is free and parking charge is very reasonable. You can grab a coffee and food plus there might even be an ice cream van outside if you go during the summer season.
As you can see from other reviews this place is great. Very high standards for everything. Simply the best site I have been to in the UK. Reminds me of French campsites. Great having the co-op and two take aways within a few hundred yards. Simply wonderful
Amazing collection of military aircraft spanning the history of flight which is absolutely free to access. Spread over two massive hangers you visit experimental aircraft then you walk into fighters and bombers that used in conflicts all over the globe. Finally there's the cold war hanger which has the deterrents that were used to prevent a third world war. Allow 3 hours here. Great Disabled access and free use of electric scooters if required. Out on the runway is a squadron of RAF Jaguar aircraft ready to fly anytime..
A great collection of aircraft. A lot of BAE made aircraft. Presented in a logical way which is palatable to anyone (not just aviation enthusiasts). There is so much to see and do, one could easily spend a few days walking around and reading all the material on offer. Good food options with indoor seating as well as an outdoor lawn.
