Over 70 iconic aircraft are displayed at Royal Air Force Museum Cosford, dedicated to the history of aviation and the Royal Air Force. The museum uses two sites (the other one is in London) to introduce visitors of all ages to internationally important aircraft, housed at this location inside three large hangars. Don’t miss a rare chance to see the world’s oldest Spitfire, part of an extensive Warplanes Collection. The museum also includes the National Cold War Exhibition, opened in 2007 to showcase V bombers and other aircraft used during the Cold War era. The exhibition uses "silo theaters" and a variety of media to depict the key events of those years. The museum also offers special birthday party packages, with private rooms available for rent. What a great place to wander round. We came here as part of a group event and split up into small groups. It was only on our return to the hotel that we found out we had missed a door to a whole hange... more »
Amazing place. So much to see the kids loved it and best of all its free. The 4D cinema was brilliant there are 4 different films, we saw the Red Baron film it was very very energetic the kids thought it was brilliant. The cold war hanger was the best in my opinion. We will be going back.
Much improved with the addition of the Cold War exhibition. Free entry but a small fee for parking (£3 for up to 3 hours. Longer stay will be slightly more). Plenty for all ages, exhibits including aircraft, cars, uniforms and log books etc. You can watch short information videos, go on the flight simulator (extra charge), there's a discovery type area where children can learn hands on about different aspects of planes and flying. Today for half term there was a create and paint a model plane activity (extra charge). On site cafe and toilets and gift shops
Fantastic place to take the family on a day out to see a plethora of planes over the years. For the price of £4 all day car parking and free entry, its a cheap trip out too. Spread over four giant hangers, there's plenty to see and do for all ages. There's an area for kids to learn about the physics of how planes work. The 4D ride is always worth going on to guarantee a smile when you come out. It loses one star as the catering is a let down. Poor selection of sandwiches and hot meals to choose from. The cafe at the far end of the third hanger didn't have any choice of food by the time we got around there, just drinks. Highly recommend bringing a picnic instead. Overall a place we will happily come back to visit in the near future.
Great day out and free to get in. You have to pay £3 for car parking. Cafe and shop. Excellent and knowledgeable staff. Fantastic display of aircraft. Easy accessible for wheelchairs and pushchair. A great day out.
Considering it's free entry it's fabulous. My 5 and 10 year old loved it too. Lots to see, activities, history, art, science of flying, 4D cinema and simulator (payment required) lovely shop and cafe area. Highly recommended
