The Peace Gardens, Sheffield

4.4
#5 of 21 in Parks in Sheffield
The Peace Gardens are award-winning public gardens near the Winter Garden and within walking distance of the Millennium Galleries. Originally the churchyard of St Paul's church, which was built in the 18th century, this attraction is a must-see. The gardens form the central part of a spectacular walk, the emerging Gold Route, taking you from Sheffield Railway Station through a series of exciting new developments, each with their own distinctive lighting, public art, and fountains. Keep an eye out for numerous memorials for soldiers of Sheffield who served in various wars, such as the Spanish Civil War and the Korean War. You will also find a memorial to Hiroshima, a popular landmark. Explore the nearby museums, grab a relaxing drink in the cafes, or browse through the shops. • Absolutely fun place. Go out with friends, family or alone. Lots of space, very clean and very well located. Got nice lawns and fountains. Has got nice eateries around and toilets in Winter Garden. Close to Town Hall and offers wonderful views to click photos. The hub of all the events conducted in the heart of the town.
  • It's a very pretty square, particularly in Spring with beautiful cherry blossom. In warm weather the fountain is fun to play around for kids. Plenty of sitting space. A nice place to chill for a few minutes
  • A very pleasant space to sit and relax in the centre of Sheffield. Next to the Winter Gardens and Millennium Gallery. Lots of restaurants nearby and kids love playing in the fountains on a hot summers day
  • It's nice place to hang out and have your coffee with a book on a sunny day. Not much big but environment is very peaceful, 500 meter from the city centre and many businesses near by makes it perfect spot to spend your weekend afternoons with your family.
  • Probably the best area in the centre of Sheffield to sit and watch the world go by. Very good redevelopment of the former St Paul's church site .
