  • Finished my 3rd year at the university in my Bachelors degree in Software Engineering and can honestly say it's been the best time of my life. Amazing university in amazing city. Beautiful and friendl...  more »
  • After 2 years of study in London because of deprivation of accreditation for the training of foreign students of London Metropolitan University, my son was forced to seek a transfer to continue their studies. Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) approached with understanding our position and provided all possible support and assistance to her son. As a result, the son was able to continue his studies in the specialty and without loss of time, which usually happens when moving from one British higher education institution to another. The atmosphere in Sheffield, obstanovkai learning process in SHU were so comfortable that the son received great pleasure from teaching and life in the city. Easily graduated Bachelor, becoming the best foreign student SHU 2014 year 2015, he received his master's degree from SHU. What I would like to mention: 1. Son had to learn easily and comfortably in the SHU, live and communicate in Sheffield 2. Shu in percentage terms in groups more British students in comparison with London universities. 3. In always "clean" English 4. Sheffield City Centre campus is 5. Sumptuous SHU infrastructure 6. 24-SHU library with free access to all of the relevant literature, scientific articles, publications, training and any professional software, etc. by the way are available to use laptops and again for free. 7. Diverse system of discounts for students in all areas of life. 8. Excellent infrastructure compact Sheffield. We like the son of insanely grateful Shu and Šeffildu. And finally-we loved Sheffield and Shu soul, since it is the birthplace of Education our son!

  • A crappy university. Bad lectures. Faculty staff couldn't really care less about the quality of education you're getting. No motivation whatsoever and you feel like they're only there to take your money and let you be off. Terrible two years.
  • Amazing campus, all you need in one place, with easy access to shops like tesco and asda. Great useful library!
  • Cantor building has a great gallery full of students work that's switched around every so often
  • First class Engineering facility and equipment. Some fantastic research happening.
  • Pros: - Very good university in terms of education quality. Lots of active engagement/discussions with Professors during seminar, even during lecture you are free to ask anything which is not quite possible in many other big/popular universities. - Enthusiastic and supportive staff and faculty staff - Many many opportunities and activities to help you develop personally and become more employable - Students from many other nationalities - Plus, Sheffield is a lovely city with lovely, friendly local people who call you "My Love"! Cons: - The only thing downgrades this university is the health centre. It shouldn't even deserve a Star. Don't even understand why they are there and getting paid for what. For doing nothing for students who are in need of help?? I am not saying this based on only my opinion because I heard it from a number of other students (same international students). Extreme example: One of my classmates (international student) had backache for several months. Obviously, the only place she sought help was Health Centre. They did nothing, of course. So she sought help of GP, but they didn't even bother to take an Xray picture of her back, but taught her some exercises! Her situation deteriorated and she had to discontinue her studies since she could not even move now and had to stay in her bed for quite some time. Then she went back to her country only to discover her back was BROKEN!!! Needless to say, spine is very very serious!! Same situation in my case. Well, not as extreme as hers. Just had severe, constant migraine for several weeks. And sought help of Health Centre. The so-called doctor spared only 5 min to discuss about it and advised me to buy paracetamol myself because the prescription they provide would cost £8.00 (if i buy, it's 16pence!!) and that's it really. I was pissed obviously, maybe it was my fault for having too high expectation comparing this to the Clinic at my previous university in Japan. At least, they would check you and if necessary, they provide you FREE medicine etc, regardless of whether you are international student or not. So I had to bear with my migraine for quite some time, with the help of paracetamol.
