  • A very interesting museum, taught me a lot about about the fascinating of steel in Sheffield. Very well laid out with some great exhibits and a good childrens themed play area.. A great place to visit...  more »
  • An excellent overview of Sheffield's steel history. Plenty to see with sensory activities for youngsters. When the River Don engine gets "steamed up" you appreciate the sheer power of a monster steam ...  more »
  • A very interesting visit. Lots to see and very educational for all age groups. Its a back in time feeling, and an insight of how things used to be done. A worthwhile visit.

  • Just the right size for a lovely family outing, child and wheelchair friendly, fascinating learning experience for all of us. Nice lunch as well!
  • Went on 1940's day and had a great time. Live music and demonstrations were an extra, but the museum is good especially on weekdays and the beam engine is amazing. Parking is a bit of an issue so best to plan ahead.
  • Beer festival here was great. The Don Valley engine was an amazing sight to see!
  • Really good day out. Very informative and lots in a relatively small area. River Don engine in stream is impressive.
  • We visited yesterday with two visually impaired friends and it was a really good experience. I contacted the museum in advance and when we arrived Andy on the desk was all prepared for our visit with special textured floorplans, Braille instructions and talking pens. We are very familiar with the layout and enjoyed helping our friends experience the Full KIM Monty, which for them was getting hands-on "feelies' to the exhibits, talking to Mr Stanley Shaw in his Little Mesters shop and listening to the River Don Engine. Try explaining the workings of that huge machine to a visually impaired Spanish lady! Just as well it makes a lot of noise and shakes the whole building! Thanks, SIMT! We were proud of you.
