  • We visited on a rainy afternoon, and I'm not sure I would recommend doing so as the paths and entrance gate were pretty muddy. We did have the beauty of a rainbow in the background and the...  more »
  • A rather beautiful ruin. Shame Henry VIII was the king of tantrums, because you can tell, it would’ve been stunning in its prime. Not saying it isn’t stunning now! Also, had the added bonus of...  more »
  • On the road to Penrith, saw the sign, so took a quick detour. Worth a stop and a few photos but not the biggest of places and a little lacking in information.  more »

  • Apart from the tower there is not much else above ground above waist height. However it's worth a visit if you are in the area, which we were. Allow approx 30 to 45 minutes to walk around the whole site, take photos and read the information boards. Small carpark and a narrow wooden pedestrian bridge over the river to gain access.
  • Well worth a visit. Small free carpark and free admission ( this is an unmanned site). Beautiful area with a meandering river adjacent to the ruined remains of the abbey. Some information boards help you to imagine what it was like. The main entrance tower to the abbey is quite intact.
  • Only needs a short visit but well worth it. Easy to find and free parking
  • Lovely abbey, nightmare single track road leading down to it. Overgrown grass edges meant I had to reverse 300 yards for a car coming up from the tiny abbey car park, as I couldn't trust there wasn't a wall or rocks. I came 10 years ago and recall the access being a lot easier.
  • Free admission unmanned public area. Very small car park. Part of coast to coast, lovely place
