Hardwick Park, Sedgefield

4.6
#4 of 37 in Parks in County Durham
Hardwick Park is a country park with a difference. Now a Visit England accredited attraction, it has survived since the 1750s when its then owner, John Burdon, created a sprawling ornamental park. Today, the remains of some of the original buildings he created can be seen throughout the park, which suggest the area has a richer story to tell.

  • Lovely place for birds of every size from geese to tiny wrens. Good food at a great price lovely park for children to play.
  • Lovely park with 2 lakes with Ducks and Swans to feed the is also a play area and visitor centre with a cafe, Car park is pay&display which is £3 for over 2hrs or £2 for under 2hr, Park normally has lots of paid activities so check the website for details.
  • Fabulous park with plenty to see and do. There's even a dragon hiding in the woods. Feed the birds using the food available in the shop, 50p minimum contribution. Lovely little cafe with gorgeous cakes. There's Hardwick Hall itself where you could check in for afternoon tea or evening meal. Lots of events throughout the year. We visit the park regularly.
  • Love this place. The park is always well kept and the bird life is a joy to watch (it was coots building nests last time). Fairytale themed sculptures and follies around the park keep your interest. A lovely day out.
  • We've had an excellent morning. Our great granddaughter fed the ducks, ran up and down the hills, collected beach nuts and played on the swings etc. We had some lunch. The quiche was good and the cost was very reasonable. One of our favourite places.
