Hardwick Park, Sedgefield

4.6
#4 of 37 in Parks in County Durham
Hardwick Park is a country park with a difference. Now a Visit England accredited attraction, it has survived since the 1750s when its then owner, John Burdon, created a sprawling ornamental park. Today, the remains of some of the original buildings he created can be seen throughout the park, which suggest the area has a richer story to tell.

  • First of all the parking charge! When did that happen? Secondly, dogs on leads at certain times i.e. 9.00 til 18.00 because it's bird nesting season. Are they away from 18.00 to 09.00 ????? Thirdly, d...  more »

  • Nice park to visit especially with kids. plenty of sporting activities for the children. We went in the end of winter, however it would be nice in the summer and fall. Lots of trees both from deciduous and coniferous. Nice cafe where you can get warm coffee and icecream.. plenty of spaces to walk and hiking trail is present there. there is a picnic spot and you can bring your food and enjoy lunch in a shiny day. ..................
  • It's a lovely park with a nice pleasant walk. A large lake. Children's area. Cafe with outside eating area for visitors with dogs. Toilets. Dog exercise area. Car parking is not free and works out at around £1.00 per hour.
  • A regular visit to this Park is a must. A great walk and maintained well. Walking the area, feeding the ducks, geese and EVIL swans is a mini adventure. Events happen regularly, Easter train was good with the kids searching for the Easter bunny.
  • Lovely well maintained area nice clean centre and toilets with plenty to see and do around. Walks are nice easy going routes for all ages and a great place to walk the dogs will be back in summer to see how much nicer it is with everything growing.
  • Beautiful place for a walk. Lots of wild fowl and countryside setting. Nice cafe. Only criticism is the 9.00 pounds parking for a disabled minibus whatever the duration of the stay
