  • We loved it here! Went with our 4 year old & 8 month old. Thought ahead & took the baby carrier and reception were happy to let us leave pushchair. Climb up to the tower is worth the views. Lovely tea...  more »
  • I have often been in the grounds but never ventured in to the castle before. A visit from London friends prompted me to try it. We paid £10.50 per adult and concession was £750 and it was fantastic va...  more »

  • A lovely castle, with beautiful rooms in great condition and richly furnished. The guides in each room are very knowledgeable and friendly. They're happy to talk to you for hours, I suspect, but also happy to let you wander on your own if you're in a hurry. I got a dose of history in the living room, and then skipped the rest due to time. The Library is particularly impressive, but also the nursery. Then you go outside and up into the original tower, which is above the library - quite an amazing sense of history here, in a castle that was continuously occupied by one family for 600 years. The surrounds are beautiful, as is the little chapel. The staff were talking about very tangible experiences of a ghost or ghosts!
  • We came when the castle was closed (just after new years), but still had a walk around. It's not the most grand of places - I am not sure why it is called a castle or what classifies a castle, but if you expect one of those places from tales - it won't be. It is a larger house and has beautiful gardens. I assume it would be a good place if you have kids as there is a playground as well.
  • Best place close by me. Ancient castle currently housing Aberdeen Art Gallery's temporary exhibition; beautiful woodland walks; and a great play park for the kids. And there's the amazing rose garden too. Oh and the water garden. Oh and all those other walks in the estate ... Oh and the garden centre close by that does great good value food... and so on.
  • Great children's play area with lots of things to do. Also good for a walk round the estate.
  • Nice place to visit and great kids play area
